Thanks Gaz, John, Sinsling.

No worries John -- my build is still on. I first tried prying it loose, but finally decided to cut some of it off. Not an elegant solution, but in the end it will be covered anyways:

I have another braille DML JT in the stash, so this experience is surely a learning for me.

Richard,

I'll be very interested to see what you think of the Italeri kit. Been forever since I built one, and I may have to change that!

Hi gents,

I remember building the Italeri JgdPz IV/70 way back in the "dark ages", before Dragon started producing every version possible and when Tamiya's oversimplified and inaccurate offering (the old one, not the latest offering) was the only alternative.

I don't remember it fondly. I believe the sprocket and road wheel hubs are the earlier type (for the Pz IV F1,2 & early G models), the plastic felt thin and brittle and there were numerous fit issues.

With a bit of TLC I believe a decent model can be built, and I'm sure Richard's skills are way better than mine, especially mine back then (read newbie). Sadly it's not a kit I'd recommend, especially with far superior and accurate alternatives now out there.

I can't wait to see a silk purse emerge out of this sow's ear.

Regards,
Johannan

I have to agree with most of what Sinsli g says, there's a fair bit of inaccuracy. It has the Ausf. H sprocket, but the cast hub covers and rubber-tyred return rollers. The forward fuel cap is moulded too far back. The rear towing hooks need replacing with eyes. The kit has the old fenders from the F1,F2,G kit, not the angled forward fenders. There are no hooks for the side skirts. For just over a tenner I'll build it with deep rooting around in the spares box, but yeah, not really to be recommended.

Well I was plodding along nicely with the jagdtiger, then I started the individual track links.... what a complete nightmare ..none of the connecting links fit into the main links, so I have just begun the insanely tedious task of filing each little male connector on the connecting links... should take me about 2 months lol

No way! That has to be frustrating!

Frustrating doesn't even come close ..it's soul destroying. It's the old DML kit, and if I had known how much needed doing I would of built a different kit.
I'm toying with the idea of using an old tamiya King Tiger set of tracks and splicing in a few sections of the links I have done to make it the correct length....

If its any use, I am just finishing a Tamiya Jagdtiger, and have the rubber band tracks spare, as I used the link and length tracks.

Norman, hi, that would be great if you're sure you won't be needing them. I will PM you.

Hull sides base painted. Wheels and tracks painted and mounted.
Tamiya dark yellow. Tracks are Tamiya steel with flat black. Vallejo dark rubber tires.

Super structure and armament dry fit.
Push out marks on Scurzen interior side.
Push out marks on optics, MG shield interior.

I need to start planning the paint pattern. Yellow masking sheet has precut patterns on it. Lower diagram shows what are on the mask sheet. But the patterns on the yellow sheet are very hard to see.
Middle diagram show s the mounting of the masks, but you need to figure out what is green and what is red. There is no key except for the box illustration.
Should be interesting if i can do it decently.

Petro, wonderful fun awaits you. Only once did I use camouflage using masks and I intend not to repeat ... but not to promise.
Martin, great job on StuG. I expect with interest the next move - the paint.
Here are my progress on my campaign project.

That is for now.
Have fun.

Yeah, me too. Seeing as i am impatient and have never used masks before, i am hoping for the best.

Great work Kalin! She's coming along nicely. Love the dirt and mud plastered to the lower hull behind the running gear

Hi all,

I'm starting a new study next week, quite intense, so I won't have much time for modelling left...

So I wanted to get my entry for the campaign done, I spent a lot of time on my 1/48 SU122, and I'm happy to announce it's done!!

Here are some pictures :

Thx for watching!!!

Great looking SU Hans, you did a brilliant job on it, and love the weathering you've done. Good luck with the study...
Hopefully I will get some more bench time soon and get the hull finished on the Jtiger, would like to say a massive thanks to Norman who sent me some vinyl tamiya tracks for it... I almost cried when they arrived.... No more filing down the individual track links ... Yay...thanks Norman.
