Hi all,
Today I have managed to more-or-less finish off the basic painting of the hull (see images below). Apologies for the 'glare', the paint is still wet so is reflecting the artificial lighting a tad, it'll dull down a tad when dry.
I still need to paint the tracks, and the spare links, and add and paint the tools and odds and sods before the winter camouflage hides things...and still not started the turret, or any stowage,

Yes, I have started building again HB Leopard and Revell Man 5t for two campaigns here while I sort out the paint barn to get those other projects closer to completion.
I do like your progress so far.

The “paint barn” is my shelf of doom either because I haven’t painted the kit or that I have painted the kit.
For whatever reason painting/airbrushing is not my favorite part of the hobby.

The layers & subtleties you’ve now achieved, and that’s without any dirtying…I dunno whether I could bear to watch you chuck whitewash over it. Well, I guess you can always replicate it on the next one too, but I’ll just be peeking through closed fingers for a while

I am more-or-less at the stage where I want to add 'whitewash' to the hull.
Has anyone any experience of creating well worn winter camouflage? Would you suggest oils or acrylics, or other options?
Any other hints and tips would be greatly appreciated,

I would use the hairspray technique for the white wash. You can control how and where you want the white to still be.

Hi all,
I have made an attempt at badly worn 'whitewash' on one half of one side of the Churchill.
It's definitely not as straightforward as I'd have liked, and I definitely need a lot more practice (see image below),
. It also needs a clean-up, think I need to let the hairspray dry a tad longer as it seemed to 'flake' a bit when I tried removing the 'whitewash',
.
I have also started to add some 'mud', this will need painting when it has dried.
I splashed out on some 'snow' today, based on a couple of recommendations I've gone for the 'Precision Ice and Snow's' - Large Universal Kit - as it was on offer (see image below).
So now I need to get started building a suitable base,

No I scavenged the fig from a Tamiya halftrack. Now comes the worst part: It didn't fit in the cab! The lack of scale correctnes led to the fact the half the head of the figure was above the cab window! I was rather dismayed when I found this out. I removed the whole lower body to get him to fit. I hope it doesn't show too much when closed up!

I agree - gorgeous work indeed! It looks just right; it would be a shame to obscure it under any more whitewash.
It sounds like you have figured out your scale snow solution...
but if it doesn't work out, I have had good luck with baking soda/water/white glue.

I have used baking soda in the past as well but it has a tendency to yellow over time.

Your bicycle and 'baking powder' snow look great, love the way you have settled it on the tree bark, very realistic,

To be honest I did consider baking powder, but over here it's difficult to get anything related to baking during this darned COVID 19 lockdown,
. Plus, one or two people mentioned about it yellowing over time...how do you avoid that?
