Hello
I'd like to enlist. The december deadline makes it very possible that I can actually finish my kit by then.
I hope the T-80 is eligible for the contest, but I have a T-72 in the closet, if not. (Too bad I finished the M1A1.)

I just enlisted. I'm thinking of doing either a Canadian Leopard, or, if that's not acceptable, a Leo II.

Cant see why it wont be acceptable seeing as the Discovery channel did rank the leopard number 1 on their list.
I must be seeing things but you signed up on the forums in 2004 and have had only 1 post? That must be some record.

Howdy!
One M1A1 Abrams cooooming up! (Even though I haven't heard nice things about the Trumpeter kit I have, it is the M1A1HA with the mineplows).

How about a Scorpion light tank? I know it's not a Chally or an M1, but if you think back to the battle for the Falklands, it was the only tank on the ground. Something can be said for being deployable and effective.

Most certainly. The scorpion tank always reminds me of the Sheridan tank in terms of light weight, light armor, easy deployment. Since it was introduced into service in 1973, it certainly meets the criteria for this campaign.

Excellent! I'm thinking a diorama from the Falklands conflict with a couple of Scorps... Time to order the kits!

OK choose the kit I´m going to build for this campaign.
At first I was trying to decide between a Leopard 1V or a M-51 Super Sherman. Choose the Sherman for being a grat machine modified even during the 80´s to keep it in service in the Chilean Army.....until 2002!.
Oh, and I´ll let the Leopard (also will be the chilean version ) for Meow Campaign.....
Cheers and happy modelling!

Alright folks, this campaign has officially started. Some of you may have just came fresh out of the Modern Armored Subjects campaign so here's to another successful one!
Hey Will, Sorry for the late response as i missed out on this one. The Sherman Firefly seems to have been used in the Normany landings and may be quite of a 'grand daddy'. Have you got any records to show that it remained was improved and remained in service pass the 1970s?

Okay I am bit late joining in here but I think I am going to go with Tamiyas T-72 kit. Always liked the look of this thing and there is a 1:1 model sitting at CFB Borden just down the road from me.
I think it was East German but no matter. It will inspire me.

So: is the T-80 acceptable?
(I'm building the SKIF kit, but it's really a pain sometimes. I might start the Dragon T-72 to make sure I have something ready.)

It sure is. T-80s came into service during the late 1970s so it definitely counts as a Modern Armor in this campaign.

Hi folks, I did a quick build this long weekend (here in Chile :-) ) . The old Tamiya M41. I guess it fits in the spirit of the campaign, since the little Bulldog was refitted during the 80´s and 90´s and it´s still in service in the Chilean Army. The build tries to depict a vehicle in the 5th Army Division in early 80´s. Well, pics:
Jazza, if the build doesn´t fit, just let me know, I´ll be more than willing to build another kit, lot´s in the stash, you know :-)
Cheers

Again you are the first to submit to the campaign! Do you have a model kit factory in your backyard that spits out the completed kit at the end of the assembly line?
Well done!
If its still in service with the chilean army, its certainly fits the campaign. Feel free to build more if you feel the urge though.
Well done!

Thanks Jeremy, I´ll tell you my secret: when I start something, and I have enough the time (like this weekend) I push the hobby to the limit, like now :-)

It´s in service, will be replaced by the end of the year for ex-german Leo 2A4.....and yes, I´ll build another one for sure
