Well, I've nearly finished my Marines ODS M60A1. I used the Tamiya kit, which has some problems and fit issues. I'd say I'm about 95% done with this kit--I only need to add stowage and antennas to wrap it up.
This is the first tank I've built since coming back to the hobby (I also finished a MUTT and a Humvee over the last three months), so in many respects it was a learning experience. It's lightly weathered with an oil paint wash and light drybrushing. I'm not extremely happy with the way the tracks look, but that's the best rust coloring I could get. Next time I'll try pigments and other techniques I've seen on the forums here to see how they work.
My photography also needs a little bit of work--the pictures came out a bit yellower than they should have, and my efforts to correct the hue were not very successful (I need to get a better image program).
Please let me know what you think.

Hey Lucas, your build looks pretty damn good from where im standing. Photography skills arent too bad either.
A tip would be to perform a dark wash on the overall kit to enhances the little gaps etc. It would give it a little more depth.
Other than that, great work!

Thanks for the comments, guys. The model already has a raw umber wash, but it doesn't show up in the pictures (it may be a tad on the faint side, too, as I was trying this technique for the first time). The other weathering detail that disappeared in the photographs was the paint scuffing/chipping around hatches and the worn metal on the sprockets. I think the yellow tint is washing both out. I really need to learn how to work my camera and image editing program better.
I do agree that a little dust would do wonders. I need to get an airbrush and learn how to use pigments. I've seen some pretty impressive results for simulated dust with one or both of those.

Looks pretty well done from here. The photos are tad hard to see with the lighting though. Any chance you could improve the lighting and take more of it? Its mainly for my reference as im building the same kit.
Congratulations on completing the campaign!
Don't forget to move the photos into the campaign folder when you are done ok?

Alrighty folks!
The time is ticking and there is one more month left before we declare victory on this campaign!
I myself am rushing to complete my build in time for the deadline so i know exactly the stress that will start to mount as the deadline inches closer and closer.
Provide an update if you can, photos would be even better!

Jazza,
I am truly sorry but I think I will have to drop out of this campaign. I tried preshading on my Abrams and it came out to be horrible. I covered it with paint and tried post-shading. It came out to be even worse, a child with crayons would do a better job I think. This M1A2 is seemingly lost in action, it had fought valiantly but lost to my sucking skills.
Now it is December and next week I will be leaving for another town for a 2 week audit. In the remaining time in 2006, I don't think I will have enough time for a new tank (especially with the year-end inventory counts approaching).
I am admitting defeat for this one. I will post the pictures of my ruin this weekend the latest.

hey Emri,
Sorry to hear that. The beauty of painting though is that you can always apply another coat and start again.
I screw up my paint chipping and am repainting the whole thing to start again. Can you not do the same?

Just remember the campaign doesnt take into account how good the kit looks. If it did, half my kits wouldnt make it.

Oh another late starter, I have been building a BR52 Trumpeter and had to wait a while before some paint I had ordered turned up before I could continue with the build. I was on a roll and desperately needed to continue sticking things together, so pulled a Trumpy Challenger 11 Kfor with the Chobham armour option out of my stash a couple of weeks ago and now only need to give it a light drybrush and weathering to finish it. I will post some pics in a couple of days
Why the Challenger? because its simply the best current MBT It has been proven in action and proved to be a very tough nut and an extremely bad boy to have the sharp end aimed at you in earnest!
Here is a link to a good Chally 2 walk around. I see that some modellers are filling the gaps in the sides of the turret on plastic kits where the stowage bins attach ,uh oh, the gaps are there on this real one as the LARGE pics in the provided link show.

Hmmm Jazza, Aunty Helen should by our boys half a dozen Chally 2s for xmas aye?
