I plan on doing more than one subject - maybe even a triple-header - US, Japanese, Israeli, something wild like that! There's only one ribbon naturally, but it think it'll be fun to go for it and finish more than one if I can. I think if everyone posts what they're working on when Jim creates the Campaign Folder to keep it organized then we'll have a better idea of how it'll look at the end and maybe lessen the chance of working on the same thing.

Yes! I was thinking of more than one myself. Probably not 3 though! That way, I'd also be able to do a Warsaw Pact vehicle too... I would really like to do a T-72, but also would like to do another T-55.

23!

If not the Merkava Mk II, I have a Challenger Mk 3 and a Leopard A4. I will build one of these.

I've decided to do either a T-72 or T-55.
Will another thread be started to discuss the details?
Such as when the build will start?

Yeah - date time!

I'll toss out the first pitch - how's about April 13th to begin and June 30th to wrap it all up. I don't think that bumps into the Barbarossa Campaign.

Any more suggestions?

I want to play too. How do we go about this? I understand that btwn April and June we build a kit (or 3). in the post WW2 era. Do we have to all do something different or what we want? How do we get our names posted, and what is a campaign ribbon? I take it we take a picture of our chosen completed kit and email it in, where and to whom?

I'm encouraged that I'm not the only one interested in "Cold War" subjects - but - don't confuse that with excluding "modern" times. The Cold War period ran through the 1950's until the Wall came down in the 1980's in my mind - that included Abrams and Leopards too. It is a wide enough period that all but the most recent items (Desert Storm and later) in modern inventories can be included.

Additionally, most arsenals were factored in one "side" or the other in Cold War strategies - even the Independent French Armed Forces. Cold War is quite inclusionary - not exclusionary like other specific conflicts mentioned - allowing for many subjects to be included in the wide time period.

I wouldn't participate in an "airbrush excluded" activity either. Just no fun there for me and I have no desire to rediscover the "joys of handpainting" I left behind almost 20 years ago - but you guys could go and knock yourselves out without me! I'd cheer you all on just the same!

Gunnie

So we talkin T/55 here

If so I am in how about now!!

As far as a date, April 13 is OK with me. Depending on World events, I plan to be going to the Mid East in May, but should have time to complete my Kit(s)!

This will give people enough lead time for getting kits, references, etc.

26 builders. Should have charged admission!

Would it be hard to start a group build photo gallery for the finished Projects somewhere?
I really have no idea about that kind of thing but i think thats what would excite me most about this project. Seeing everyones work in one place.

Geez.....been on this site since Oct. and never participated in a campaign before....and now in the last 2 days I have myself mixed up in two!!! This one...and the one Yoda wants to do for the ship community!!!!! Ahhh well....his starts on the 24th or March, goes for 50 days...so that would be till May 13th....this one from April 13th till June 30th? No problem!!!!

I have a question? If I was to build the subject...and get it finished for the campaign long before the due date....and was to enter it in a local contest in my town here, (our annual contest is in May), and say I one with it in our local one....would that preclude it from our campaign? I know our campaign is not really a contest at all, just I know that some model competitions will disalow a model if it has won an award at another show.

Haven't decided what I am going to do as of yet....just looking in my closet from where I sit here in front of the computer I can see a Challanger Mk.1 as well as a Mk.3, a M2 and a M2A2 Bradleys, Merkeva Mk.1, LVTP7A, Flakpanzer Gepard, T-80, BRDM-1, BRDM-2, BRDM-3, BMP-1, M247 Sgt. York, BM21 Grad, M113 ITV TOW, and then just thinking of what is in the basement, M577, M113, MLRS, Osh Kosh truck, couple of Humvees.
OK....probably the MLRS, OK Truck, and M2A2 Bradley is out, as being too new.....but the rest all fits!!! Besides the MLRS and the OK Truck are destined for a dio together.
I was however thinking of doing the M577 command post and M113 together, are we just talking the kits here....or could we do a small dio? My thought was the 577 with the cam nets and tables all out...along with the 113 pulled up and the crews under the cam netting huddled around a table looking at a map. And being a Canuck...they would be of the Canadian Army of course!!!
Let me know on this idea...as I could just do one or the other as the entry....or even pick something else!!

This will work for me. So what did we decide for the time period, is it going to be cold war? That would be up to the fall of the Soviet Union wouldn't it?

Is it Cold War or modern as well, because i dont think a T-72 classifies for Cold War era, or am i wrong?

The T-72 is a Cold War era tank. Made in the early or mid-70s. It was the USSR's premier MBT (along with the T-64 - which they say is a much better tank than the T-72) before the T-80 arrived.

EDITED for bluntness.

YIPEEEE! :-)
Truth be told: I haven't decided what my subject would be. Ahehe... I would just love to go Russian but there are very few Russian MBTs here, mostly BMPs and BTRs. I might do a German (Leo1, Leo2) or (oh dear God, not again!) an M1 If an M1, perhaps the basic M1 Abrams (105mm) - which means the Academy M1A1 and modifying it. Hehehehehe!

Unless I missed a post (and if I did, kindly - kindly - please direct me to it), does this Cold War theme mean any vehicle used by NATO and the Warsaw Pact, or does it mean anything regardless of country in which it served, during the Cold War days. Sorry, I don't want to complicate the rules, I was just merely asking for specifics.
