Hi all;
Here's my Tamiya 1/35 M1025 HMMWV. I've posed it as an M.P. vehicle getting ready for a patrol near the Baghdad Airport. I've called this little vignette "Gear Up". It's of no particular unit or division, just a generic display.
The sign is an image I found on the 'net and added to a scratchbuilt frame. The weapons all have wine bottle foil slings and come from various accessory kits. The kit has the Eduard update set (a great addition btw) with various scratchbuilt bits, maps and kit added as well. The figure is from Dragon's modern US Marines set with modifications.
The base is a ceramic bathroom tile with aquarium gravel and model railroad ballast groundwork.
Great kit, it was lot's of fun to build and to research. Hope you enjoy...

Here is my progress on my Iraqi BMP-1 from the new Iraqi security forces. It is going to be loosely based on the pictures I have previously posted in this tread.
The kit is the 1/35 Zvezda BMP-1 build OOB. A nice basic kit with a cheap price tag.
A saturday afternoon and the kit is build minus its tracks that are individual links. I have given it a basecoat. Next is the desert yellow.
Thanks for looking.

only a couple of days and people have already finished their models...Excellent!
when you guys post the final pictures of your models in the Campaign Gallery, you must have a minimum of three pictures.

Work and travel have limited my build time these past couple of weeks, but I got a bit of time in this weekend to work on my OIF bucket. Here's a pic of it with the holes for the side skirt bolts drilled out.
And here is a pic of it with a scratchbuilt side bin used by some units in OIF1. I haven't glued it down et, as I still need to add mesh to the bottom of the bin and build a second one for the other side. of the bucket.
Comments welcome!

yeah pete, i got it...thanks
I might change it a slight bit though (because some people might find it offensive that we're using a Ribbon that some of us here haven't earned like they have, unless they dont mind) but thanks again, i appriciate it.i'll speak to you soon and see what's what.then i'll post the ribbon for everyone to see...
Lucas, i'm curios..what hickness of pastic card did you use for the stowage bucket? and what are you going to use for the mesh? but it's looking good so far...

Okay, I'm in! I'm going to give it another try because the last attempt my "old job" got in the way and now I have more free time.
I'll build the Trumpeter/Hobby Craft Iraqi T-59 "Fedayeen" I bought on sale a few years ago so it looks like it'll finally come in handy!

Chris--I used Evergreen .06" "L" angle, .015"x.06" strip, and .04"x.06" strip. The mesh I'll pilfer from that supplied with Tamiya's M1A2 kit.

Your M1A1 AIM is looking good, Gijs! How well did the kit go together? I got the AIM for Christmas but haven't cracked it open yet (I'm going to get a few other kits under my belt before I tackle it).
Dustin--as I understand the rules of the campaign, as long as you give your M1A1 AIM OIF markings (which come with the kit), then it is most definitely ok! And feel free to ask questions--we're all here to learn from each other.
Cheers!

@Gijs: looks good It is definently an impressive kit. Looking forward to see it with some paint and markings on it.
@Dustin: just fire away with your questions. We will see if we can help.

I just opened up my kit last night to see what it looks like to get started this weekend.
Not too inspiring a start when a tank kit that is advertised on the top of the box: as used in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and the kit is molded in DARK GREEN!!

I've started work on the base for my diorama.
Its to be a basic street with a burnt out car upon it.
My question is:
Is there any photographs out there that show a street in iraq much like this one.
I can't tell much about the street & pavement from this. So i need your helps.

I just finished my build last night. My kit is the Zvezda 1/35 BMP-1 build entirely out of the box. It is a good kit with individual link tracks and only minor fit problems around the fenders and the rear super structure.
It is finished in overall light sand, with some washes to simulate dust and some pastels to tone down the armour and markings and give it a dusty appearence. Markings are from an old 1/72 Esci T-72, but fitted perfectly into this project. In some of the pictures I have seen the BMP-1s have both the iraqi flag on the hull and turret. However, I choose to only put it on the hull, as I simply did not have any extra markings.
The BMP-1 is one big AFV! That surprised me a little. In the last picture I have shown the BMP-1 next to a Tiger I. The BMP-1 is longer and just as wide, but has a much lower profile from the side. Maybe that is why there is a problem with depressing the gun and hitting small targets at close range.
I were going to add the water bottle boxes I got HERE at Armorama, but I could not find anywhere to fit them. The BMP-1 does not have any place to store boxes as the boxes will obscure hatches, gun ports, periscopes, main gun etc. Well, maybe I will use the boxes as a part of a future diorama.
Overall I am pretty satisfied with this kit. A welcome modern Russian AFV to my collection. Great to participate in this campaign Comments welcome

Well I’ll join in.
I’ve got an early OIF dio I’ve been trying to get around to.
I’ll have some soldiers clearing out a room that the Iraqis were using as a sniper position.
