I have just some doubts about the hatch that you've enlarged.

It seems to me larger than the original one

The only problem I can see is, how do you intend to show off the interior once complete? I've tried my had at a few full interiors and realize that I spent three weeks to build something no one will ever see. Great job on super detailing the exterior. Looks promising.

Matthew, I will follow this one closely, I have the same kit with the same upgrades waiting for some bench time...
I added the Aber PE sets...
I guess when I'll start my build I'll have tons of questions and you'll be working on some other kit by then...

Anyway by the looks it seamed pretty straight forward...

...Actually I REALLY understand what you mean

I spent lots of time doing them on mine t-55 . The problem is that there's little room to operate. If I did another time I wouldn't mount before the turret base extensions

This is a superb build. The interior is brilliant looking and I hope the hatches you plan to open allow a decent bit to be seen, although like you said- you get some satisfaction just knowing its there! Great work on the exterior aswell.
Any thoughts on a camo scheme?

Nope, no thoughts on paint yet,

Probably a very sun faded green, but not sure


If you wanted to reproduce a Polish t-55 the correct color would be similar to an olive drab.

Czech T-55s have slightly different engine deck (engine hatches are equal to the russian ones), camo schemes are more intersting. Anyway I have lots of t-55 pics so, as i said, if you need I can give you some reference pics

Did you have to do anything special to make the T-72 Fruils work with the Tamiya drive sprockets?

This is the engine deck layout I am heading towards, simply because it seems to be the easyist to replicate

That's the engine deck of a t 55 belonged to the Polish army. It's kept in a Polish Army museum in Poznan. That's the same exemplar with tactical number 1955 that I posted before

you can find some other Polish t-55

If you're going to reproduce a Polish made T-55, you should take care to the gun mantlet. It's slightly different from the russian one

As you can see it looks a little smaller and less corrugated

I have spent some time on the engine hatch, in an effort to reduce the opening size,

I lined both openings with plastic strip, and put a double layer on the air filter hatch, I used super glue for doing this, plastic cement just results in a goey mess when working with thin plastic strip

I will leave you all to guess how many times I glued my fingers to the hatch, and glued my fingers together
