Hi guys,

I kinda lost interest in modelling for a month, but I now I continued my Ward LaFrance project. At the moment I am detailing the engine:

Evening all

I'm a bit late joining, but I picked up a cheap Trumpeter LAV-R at the North Somerset Model Show this weekend. I'll attempt to get it finished by the end of the campaign!

Here are my latest progress on the AMX30D.
First, I noticed Azimut issued a wrong rear plate for this variant. I think they gave a plate of their AMX30B2 series. So I had to remove the large weld line as well as the two round pieces with boltheads inside.

Then I added some resin and PE bits here and there. The crane boom is dry-fitted for the picture to give an general idea of the finished vehicle.

There is still a long way to go! Some of the bins will be added after the painting to facilitate the camouflage process.

I kinda lost motivation on my maz for a few days..guess that happens! The weathering on the trailer is really testing my limited skills, and the first draft on the wood planking was a failure. After a trip to LHS , I can replace the wood.

John-excellent progress, looks battle weary!
Bison- amx is coming along very well now! The dry fit boom really shows the layout of the vehicle

Mat- I feel your lost motivation! Your LaFrance looks great! Appears to be a very well detailed kit, might have to pick one up!

I'm back on the bench..marathon build to make up lost time! More pics to come!

Thanks Mark.
Are the brake lines for your trailer scratchbuilt? It's just insane to have so much to add. Fortunately on tracked vehicles, the running gear is much easier to build.

I just realized that everyone is building way more interesting projects than mine, but cool

progress continues with converting the rear window to the smaller window version to replicate the prototype truck

respect for that weather strip, it brings me back to the ordeal which was cab of the AA Scammell Commander I built a while ago....

some paint on it now, for some reason Tamiya OD doesn't cover well when I use it. It is also a bit dark, need to do some modulation with some buff added.

I realized yesterday that I have some pics from a real vehicle which I made at the Marshall Museum in Overloon which is close to my city.

Okay if not to late to start in the Campaign I think i'll join in. I'm finishing up on my M998 and am really ready to start on the M109A3 shop van. I'll be using the AFV M35A2 kit and the Real Model conversion kit. Which really is just the box on the back. In my time in the Army I was assigned I think 4 trucks over the years. I think this was the second. I'll be building it as Bravo 214 of the 26 FSB 3ID Ft. Stewart Ga. At least with this build I won't have to paint a crew as it will be parked with the hood up. I will be building the M105 trailer from MMK to have hooked up in back. We used to back up and turn the trailer to where it was just about to jackknife and use the trailer as the steps to get in the back. Well all I have for now is pics of the boxes. I have the D-toys and the Real model engine set coming in the mail. I think I should be able to get it done before the end of June.

Happy Building

Hi all,
here are my latest pictures. I moved a bit further on the chassis, the blade and the crane boom. I still have a lot of little bits to add and some details to check before I can go on.

The blade and the crane will be painted separately before being glued in place.

Well it seems like the M1070 had a lot of suitors at this year's prom. also I'm thinking I'll wait until the add-on armour becomes available.

Meanwhile I've decided to work on a M5 High Speed Tractor.
Last year a book came out about Company A, 110AAA Battalion, named after the author's track: "Driving Hitler's Crawling Coffin"
My grandfather drove one of these M4s across Europe as part of the Company C in a tractor he called "Queen City Kid".
Funniest story was that he used this same M4 to take his future wife on dates. Terrorised the neighbourhood by arriving, well, at high speed. . .

*IF* I can figure out how to use the Testor's decal sheet.

Progress so far:
compared to my other project for an M3 which used the same running gear as the M4 Tractor

This HobbyBoss kit is really sweet, lots of detail without the insanity I've seen by some makers.
This engine has more parts than all of the Tamiya M3 kit. Seems a shame that its all going to be buried inside, out of view.

Olivier - all the tube is included in the kit - Hobbyboss have made one of the best kits ever produced.

Your build is looking great !

Sprue - I like the chevy - its a great subject and you are doing a lot with it

Mat - it looks good - will it be towing anything.

corsair - the tractor looks cool

Mark - that looks a cool project.

Im feeling kinda pleased - another major milestone
wheels all 40 of em

goose neck on

this is the load - ok kinda boring - but with paint it could be fun

keep it coming guys - Jeff this is one awesome GB !!

cheers

nice work on that trailer will my Ward LaFrance be towing something?....haven't thought about that actually I looked at my stash and the only thing WW2 that I have is a german sdkfz 234/4 or a small goliath demolition vehicle, I think I'll go for that one.

There's a ton of great building underway now!!! Several people have completed their builds..and we still have a few months to go!

I wanted to add a couple pics of my progress..the MV headlights arrived, and really make a huge difference!

The trailer weathering underway..my biggest challenge to date. I'm looking for a used look, but not hiding all the fine details under crud....any advice here would be VERY helpful!! Heres where I'm at..

Mark- your M35A2 build into a shop van sounds like fun! I drove a tool truck in the same model during many field excercises, while everyone else enjoyed power-steering!!

Thanks for joining up!

Jeff - I also had to drive a rig wth no power steering and the mil spec big tires in the British Army- builds up the biceps dont it !

now that trailer looks sweet - i like the wood effects a lot - only thing maybe to add are some oily stains and maybe a dark wash to pop the grain. but its looking fine Jeff

a light dusty coloured wash may suit this one? or the light sandy pastels gently dusted on.

cheers

Very nice build Mark and Jeff !
I guess your models will need some space on your shelves when done Which is the longest between the MAZ and the M1070 ?

It finally starts to look like a vehicle, mounting the boom took me an hour
