Very nice build Mark and Jeff !
I guess your models will need some space on your shelves when done Which is the longest between the MAZ and the M1070 ?
I have a spot all picked out for the Maz, it fills a shelf fast!!
Not sure on the M1070, but the Maz comes in w/ ramps down at a staggering 28 inches!!!

Hi!
I'll be building a Sherman V ARV Mk 1 using the old dragon M4A4 as a base with the Resicast ARV conversion.

trailer itself is huge!
its coming in at 24 3/4" add the ramps at 3"

thanks guys! It's a kit from Accurate Armour which is in my dictionary another name for the word "expensive". On the other hand, looking at the price of plastic kits these days I think they are not so expenensive anymore. Their subjects are great, customer service is also top notch, casting is okay but not fantastic. If I look at the beautiful resin kit that Olivier is building, I think that one has a better quality. For a resin kit, the Ward LaFrance was relatively easy to build. From all the resin manufacturers I have come across in my modelling "career" Accurate Armour is on the good side...my wallet does not agree with that

Lets see, M1A1 65(ish) short tons, M1070/M1000 Combo 50(ish)
I remember the caption when I found this photo that the HEMITT M984 was at about 120% of rated towing capacity!
maybe we should just bring the objective to the army instead of the other way

Thanks Mark ! I'm very pleased w/ the results, proud that the vast techniques used worked! The most fun..and challenging was the chipping, very easy to over do.

Ditto, Jeff. All the various weathering types you did came together perfectly! Hard to believe it's not real.

How did you make the chipping ?
I still can't believe I covered all the brass in paint, but guess it was worth it!! The chipping method started with a base of MM gunmetal metalizer on the trailer , cheap hairspray coat..this stuff smells BAD! Next up was interesting..I read it was critical to use acrylic paint for chipping, but the next layer was MM enamel..faded olive drab. using very short bristles , and a small amount of tap water, I scratched heavy traffic areas. This took restraint..easy to over-do.
The acrylic paint didn't "chip" right..looked sanded not worn. I 'm unsure why, but just enamel worked good for mine.
