glad to have ya along! Cut all the parts off the trees..shake the box..out pops a finished Lav-R !! Great choice for a build! Be sure t opost some build pics!
Thanks for the warm welcome Jeff. A great campaign - there are a nice variety of models on the go. Those by Mat, Olivier and Mark stand out for me.
Well here are a couple of in progress photos. The crane is also mostly built but needs the plumbing added, as are the wheels, which already have a lick of paint. Only when I downloaded the photos did I realise I had forgotten to temporarily add them! As Jeff says this is a nice easy kit with no real fit issues, although some of the location holes are on the large side and need some filler. In general, the plastic parts are also, IMHO, good enough without the need to use the replacement photoetch parts.

Mark- your chipping looks great! Really shows off the heavy wear the trailer receives during ops! The container is an interesting way to show a load..much different from the countless tanks..well done!
Bison- looks like your in the final stretch now..your build has been excellent, and very encouraging for someone like me looking to build a multimedia kit.
Andrew- out pops a LAV-R!!! Great work on your build, looking forward to your future progress!
Well, we have another month to the finish line.. So many great builds along the way!

Hello again.
Been a while since I've been able to post but my wife and I got a little tied up in our new 1:1 scale project.
First figure I've made that came out looking half decent.
==)
Anyways here is a couple updated photos of the RSO.
Got a base coat down and primed the load/figure for further painting. Major assemblies are just dryfitted so I can paint the interior later so those gaps should vanish. The loads painted in red primer because it's all I had in the house. I really hate this stage of painting because everything looks so toy like.
I'm thinking the figures panzer uniform isn't correct, but I'm hoping to finish the RSO as part of a Volksstrum unit and from what I understand (but I may be wrong) their uniforms were a hodge podge of miscellaneous civil and various service uniforms.
Looking to place it in a small vignette but just need a little inspiration.
Cheers
Jeff

Congratulations Jeff for the 1:1 scale model
I'd say the figure is more than half decent. Very good job for the weathering. The highlights and washes are just enough to give it a true sense of life
The good point for you is that during all the coming nights when junior is not sleeping and has awaken his/her parents you can have some fun time on your RSO.

Oh, and the RSO is looking good too! (gotta get me one of those new DML kits)

Don't forget the tail lights.
Already fixed Gary. Thanks for the reminder, I'm used to forget this king of details.
I also intend to add the antenna base.

Hi again.
Happy Victoria Day.
Been able to get a little time together to make some progress on the RSO. Pictures aren't the best as I got lazy and didn't pull out the tripod.
Got a gloss coat down, decals on, a quick wash and painted the the load. Hoping I can get a matte coat on in the next few days and start the real weathering. I'm hoping to find a volksstrum figure or two since the last figure didn't look right with it.
Little kit is starting to grow on me, been a fun project to try new techniques and materials on.
Cheers
Jeff

John,
Thanks for the encouragement.
However, I have run into a problem with the Dragon DS Tracks.
They were wrapped on a cardboard sheet and now they have a pronouned bend in the tracks and some of the guide horns are bent over. See the two photos.
Did you have the same problem? If so, how did you straighten them out?
Anyone else have any solutions.
Thanks,
Tom

hi tom - cool choice and speedy building !
regarding your tracks I think they have a solution on the DML site -
http://www.dragon-models.com/html/6062announcement.htm just put them in some hot water apparently
cheers

Mark,
Thanks for the information.
I tried the hot bath as you/Dragon suggested.
The kinks have flattened out somewhat, but the bent over guide horns did not move.
Below are some photos after the hot bath.
I'm still open to more suggestions.
I have sent Dragon a Dragon Care report and I will see what they say.
Thanks
Tom

It's such a shame that a major company dares selling stuff like that.
I hope their customer service is better than their quality control

Tom- its really a shame the tracks ship this way..guess thats why most modellers pile on the mud to hide the limp guide horns!
Looking forward to your progress!
