This campaign has encouraged me to dig this thing out of the closet and start building! Here’s the first few steps…

I'm still open to more suggestions.
I have sent Dragon a Dragon Care report and I will see what they say.

Thanks
Tom

I have been in contact with DragonCare and the spare DS tracks have the same bentover guide horns, so they will be sending me a set of Magic Tracks. I'll use those to finish off the model.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Regards,
Tom Moon

just on the final push now - the load needs strapping down. But im on schedule to finish this within a week.

here are some weathering progress shots

the final construction step is the suzie coils - they are supplied in the kit, just wrap them around a toothpick to form the shape.

hope to get final pics up very soon.

also big thanks to Jeff - i managed to complete those "nightmare" piano hinges on the MAZ after your tips -

cheers Mark

Olivier ! thanks ! unfortunately I dont have big shelves at all. Most of my armour models are parked in garage and crewed by an elite unit of spiders

For this one I am picking up a big base to allow me to bring it to some shows and so forth.

Mark - congrats on a great build, the load and truck look excellent. I really like the way you painted the truck and trailer a different color.

p.s. the hinges look very good! Glad I could help

A very nice achievement Mark ! Like other members said the trailer painted in a different color is the detail that makes the difference.
You should fix the wheels alignment. On your pics, it seems that the rearmost right wheel of the truck has some angle and the second wheel from the left of the trailer is not in contact with the ground.
I love the dust effect on the truck hood. I hope my current T-62 will look that way too.

I'm calling this one a wrap. A little bit of a let down after that magnificent HET

Still consider myself to be a rookie with all this and am happy to have learned a lot with the kit. I can see myself doing a lot of support vehicles in the future. My only two complaints with the kit is the fidlyness of the suspension assembly and the grille which I think looks pretty poor. That's why the windshield is down to hide the grille a bit. Well that and every vehicle looks better with the windshield down in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback and well wishes during the build.

Cheers!

Jeff

Still there is some amazing work here from all of you and you have really given me some ideas for when the dragon wagon does finally arrive!

Ha! My prior build is in the paintshop, curing between coats, so I'm jumping into this campaign... finally!
This is one of my favorite campaign ideas, so I was going to regret letting it pass, and I received such excellent BARV research help here, so here goes!

BarvDate-20120605-1903.jpg
(The stories in The Onion newspaper aren't real, but the date is.)
...and after day one, here's where I stand...
EndofDay1-20120610-2248.jpg
I'm not usually an armor builder, so that's about 20 more wheels than my usual stuff. This old Tamiya kit is one year younger than me (44 tomorrow ), and it's falling together very easily. I have to admit that at first, I was looking for all the other parts trees-- just 3 in the box. The hull is two major pieces, and most of the suspension is molded to the lower hull. That's fine for my work here!
Cheers!

Sean- great to see ya made it back ! I was hoping you'd make progress on the BARV, a very unique subject

Simon- too bad you couldn't have found us earlier..I almost purchased the dragon wagon for another campaign! I remember someone building one w/ a mini-sub on the trailer, very cool!

I have the basic shapes coming along. I don't expect I'll get the beautiful weathering and detailing that Jeff and Irvin accomplished. Nice work, fellas!
Cheers!

Really interesting variant Sean. Even if you don't cross the finish line in time, don't give up and keep on this very nice build!

Love the Sherman ARV, that's been on my short list to do for a long time.

Built a small base for the RSO/3. First real concentrated attempt at one and i'm fairly happy with the results.

Cheers
