Olivier - awesome subject !! looking forward to it!
Jeff 0 sorry to see that - hope it was not over the carpet! But the paint on the Maz really looks the part - should look awesome in a chipped and worn state
I managed to get the rig base painted ! It seemed like a marathon it took the best part of 6 hours I think!
must say it feels pretty good to reach this milestone. I will continue building the trailer now and when I want I will also start weathering of the prime mover.
cheers
Mark

Impressive builds so far !!
My bergeTiger, a slow start too.
Next step will be working on the wheels.
These were steel wheels or they had the rubber tire around ?

Mark- I love the paint job!!! I'm ordering mine this week, so I'm following your progress. Was your paint work free hand?
John- I thought you would enjoy this progress shot..
I still need to add the treads, but the Voyager set is great. The "tubes" that run through the ramps were tough to roll, then realized annealing them would help...perfect fit!
There's great progress going on, hope everyone enlisted will finish!

OK the Castrol Super Clean didnt work it was every bit of 15 years old Picked up some Simple Green and soaked and brushed and soaked it some more for about 4 day. I didn't break off too many pieces I rinsed it with warm water and let it dry a day. Sanded the rough spots and this is what I wound up with
You can see the few broken parts in the foreground
So all broken parts have been repaired or remade and I hope to get it sprayed again tomorrow
Wish me luck

That's too bad Sal !
As you can see I started mine this weekend.
How did you paint the wheels ? the outer rim is suppose to be steel or rubber wheels?
Good luck with the paint job

I fully second that. It's pure madness but wow that gives a perfect look to the build.

Great details, Jeff. That Voyager set really adds realistic details.
Looks like you are able to save the berge Elefant, Sal. Looking forward to see more.
I have now finished my Horch for this campaign. It is the old venerable Italeri kit. The details are quite good and the fit excellent. Definitely a kit that stands up to the pass of time.
I kept weathering light as this model will go into a diorama in the future, so more weathering will be added at that time to "tie in" the model with the diorama.
Comments welcome.

Nice Horch Jesper !
Still a clean build waiting for the dio.
How was that italeri kit ? I've been planning to get it but never did...yet.
I would add some personal gear on the back seat & boot.. we can hardly see the jerrycans, maybe a map or documents.

Thanks, John. More will be added to the "trunk". Now it is just three jerry cans. I am planning to include this Horch in a Atlantic Wall diorama. Either dropping of supplies or being a staff car. It will be loaded differently depending on which route I go with the diorama. You can follow it in the Atlantic Wall tread although it will probably be a couple of weeks before I have something to post.
The kit is actually very good. Nice crisp details most places and a nicely detailed chassis. The drivers station is pretty basic, but I think that is the case on the real Horch as well. I can only recommend this kit. Especially looking at the price tag.

Glad to know Jesper, my wishlist is getting bigger every week..
Are you planning some sort of concrete bunker for the dio ?
Maybe a Tamyia Citroen staff car.
I'll have to check the Atlantic Wall tread then.
I hope to do something on my bergetiger soon too..
Happy modelling !

Slow progress on my AMX30. The upper hull needed some hot water to get straightened to fit the lower hull.
But I had a bad surprise as huge gaps between both hulls. This is visible at the rear and under the sponsons. So plastic strips and putty came to my rescue !
Pics before the gaps are filled
When the putty is cured, I'll add the wheels suspension arms.

@ Jesper-great work on the Horch! Looks like we already have a few buiders finishing for our campaign!
I really like the "canvas" cover over the windshield, very nice.
@Sal- thank goodness it wasn't a total loss!
@ Bison- looks good so far, eagerly waiting future pics

Thanks for the comment, Jeff. The cover on the wind shield is simply a triple layer of alumium foil. The same kind used for food stuffs.
Looking forward to follow the many cool builds in this campaign.

Hey all, got my pre-build photos taken before going away for the weekend.
The only thing with a calender date I had at hand was my laptop. Hope it'll suffice.
Any tips for building this kit?

Bison - I'm watching this project. And I know about warping hulls when I built an ICM kit tank
ComaBlack - Nice kit choice. What branch of service are you going to portray?
We need to show the current date in our WIP photos? I didn't do that on the last page but I can on the next post if required

Thanks for the info there Phill, a tad bit to late for me but hopefully not for John, besides once the weathering goes on I don't think that it will be that noticeable
Also I have had so much go wrong with this build that I'm not about to go an pull the track off to change the color at this point

Sal if its to late for you thats a shame but have no fear i have an idea .
Mub,muck, grime, crap and what ever rubbish this world can throw up when a tank tries to flatten it , just cover the road wheels in a heap of it, will hide the black of the rubber and make it look like its been playing .

The issue is not only a warpage but the fonrt end seems to sit higher than the lower hence the gap under the sponsons.
I fixed that last week-end and managed to have some bits glued on. Pics will follow.
As there are a lot of pulleys, hooks and other tools all around, to facilitate the painting, I won't glue them during the assembly and will put them in place when the camouflage is done.

I personnally didn't notice such a requirement for this campaign. I can add the date in a future picture if the campaign leader requires it.

The rules didn't require a dated picture for our builds, I figure it comes down to honesty on the builder. Hey, I'm not planning to haunt ya if ya started early!!
The main rule was to have fun..and sounds like that is a success
Enjoy the builds!
