The campaign runs 6 months. I couldn't start it any later...I would've blown the rules by starting my Maz!
Mark V- what is the truck you posted a pic of? I usually build modern equipment, really lacking knowledge in earler kits.

@heliman: It's the 1/35 CMK conversion kit for a GMC 353 Clubmobile. These were used in WWII by the American Red Cross to bring coffee and donuts to the troops. See for example the clubmobile.org website.
The conversion kit fits on the Tamiya GMC kit. If this doesn't qualify, I've got other kits I can build instead.

I have started my build for this campaign. The German Horch. Used as a transport for all kind of things - from officers to supplies.
I am building the old Italeri kit. So far it stands up to time well. Construction is fast and details decent. It is half way made in one evening.
More to follow.

I have now finished construction of the Horch. A great little kit with excellent fit especially considering the age of the kit.

Some WIP of the HET - I have been working my cahoonies off on this build ! it is a lot of fun.
you have to plan out the painting as you have 3 big subassemblies for the rig - chassis, cab and winch platform.
some painting of the cab and detailing
the crew have different taste in reading material
cheers

Here is a few updated pics of my build for this campaign. It is going to be a diorama. My M88 is going to be pulling a power pack out of an M60 A1 tank in the field! Brings back memories of what I used to do when I was in the military! I still have to weather the 88 and the M60, But they are coming along great.

Hi guys, Great progress here
@ Jasper love the Horch, I have to get 1
@ Mark love the detail especially the magazines
@ Bill great cammo job looking forward to more
I cracked open my kit on Saturday
and was quite surprised as its not your typical Dragon kit. Detail is great but you dont have the itse bitsy parts
Opened a new thing of glue and through it in the box and next thing I knew the 1st 12 steps were complete
about 90% finished with the build

I've been working out a few details in the cab, added the wires to the steering post, and parking brake lever cable.
Heres the cab interior..the pics showed a whitish material on the walls. I added it by using the foil from a cig pack!
Looking down on the Voyager fenders..more of this detail set to follow!
Heres the first time all the subassembly's come together..the size of the kit becomes a little overwhelming now!

I'm casting my own tires for this build!!! Following Joe Sycygiel's info, I used the kit tires to make the mold box, and cast a tire! This is a really simple process once I did it! OOPS the tires are directional!!
I found a bunch of air bubbles, but it was the first one poured..plenty of practice on this kit!
The casting kit I used was from Alumalite- HS 3.Great stuff! Thanks Joe for talking me thru it!!
A little advice...DON'T use your spouses good measuring cup for mixing your rubber!!!! I got caught before hiding the evidence...cost me a dinner!

Last update for the night..The PE set includes more piano hinges for the winch box, and the engine cover. I ground off the lousy kit details, and rolled my own.
Here's the kit engine cover- before removing the kit hinges.
The new details on the winch box..much nicer, and almost function!
I found one detail that is still bugging me. The winch box is centered on the kit, but looking thru pics of the actual truck , its offset to the right of the engine cover. I decided to leave it alone for now.
Here's a hinge after rolling it..
Thats it so far!

Ok guys I have come to a dilemma according to my kits instructions my build should be complete, but I have all these groves and notches and empty spaces that the directions dont show parts to add
Also the only equipment that is added is a jack but the dont even have you mount the included wooden block
Should I cover/sand these spots off and should I add the pioneer tool
There are very few picture of this beast on line so any advise would help before I move on with this build:-[ ]

The notches in the little superstructure are vision slits.
The circular plate on the front of the upper hull is a cover for the usual MG position of a regular Ferdinand. The notch on the corner you can fill as it is for the headlights of a normal Ferdinand. I am guessing you can get rid of the marks on the left side of the upper hull as that is where the toolbox was kept on early Ferdinands (later ones had it moved to the rear).
I don't know what those little rails are for on the right rear of the upper superstructure. As for the rear panel, there is nothing there. I think the recovery version had lots of built-in toolboxes so you don't see many tools on the outside.

Sal, that is a very neat looking Recovery vehicle! Everyone has some very cool builds going on as well. I'm new to this side of modeling. I have been building car, and truck kits ever since I was a kid. I just got into building model aircraft about 6 months ago, and now just started building armor! I must say it is quite a bit different, but I love it, and don't know what I have been missing all these years!
Cheers to all and happy modeling guys and gals!

Hey Gary thanks for the information, I kinda figured that the slits on the rear superstructure were vision slits, I'll make them more pronounced. The Circular disk covering the forward machine gun mounting area is not present in this photo
As far as tool boxes go it looks naked without some sort I think i will at least add the jack block, and cover up or sand down some of those high spots
@ Bill thanks its a monster of a kit but looks a little naked

Great idea using the cig pack foil. I also used this material on the interior of my HMMWV project. ( that I still haven't finished)
and the other projects progressing; Paintman1, ltb073, SGTJKJ, markchis - Dudes, very unique projects.
I've finally gathered all the kits and parts needed to make a 1955 Chevy Task Force U.S. Navy PU. I'll start this weekend and will post progress
