Looks good, Sal. I think the picture you have might be of a converted Ferdinand. They did not have the MG in the hull so there would not be any circular plate to cover it up. Your kit is probably a converted Elefant.

I have made a little more progress on the Horch. The base coat and the camouflage is now on.
More to follow.

Everyone is making great progress on their builds!! I've been building like mad on my project, pics will be posted soon.

Thats a great looking Horch! Thanks for building it
Mark- The HET is building quickly...I like the added details and field manuals in the cab..great touch! Where did ya find them?

Bill- great work on your M88, it will make a great dio! Not sure if ya mentioned it, but being your 1st armor build..ya have the skills !

OK..now for an update:

Hi Jeff - some great work by everyone so far ! Those piano hinges had me crawling up the wall ! What was your secret!

I just printed out the magazines on a colour printer - I can send a word doc if anyone is interested. I suppose someone else will copy my exact idea in there own HET cab right down to the model magazine - and claim the idea as there own - oh well - without even acknowledging any credit for the idea.

cheers
Mark

KoSprue one- The idea for the cig foil was from your hmmwv build, just forgot where I found it! Thanks..sorry for late thanks

Mark- I really struggled w/ the piano hinges. The way I did it, was prolly the hardest..but layed the brass wire on the "fingers" and rolled them around the wire one at a time. I tried CA glue, then rolling...too impatient! After I had a " matching set, I slowly slid the wire thru the set, and had a hinge.

My build is really coming along now..tractor is nearing primer stage, almost a shame to cover all the brass! The individual door hinges were a huge success...pics tonite!

Just want to give a shout out to Mark. He hooked me up with the download for his scale magazines They printed out beautiful, and very clear! they will be a great addition to many of my models, especially the new Hobby Boss M1070 kit, that hopefully I will own in the near future!

Cheers, and happy modeling to all!

The little tie-downs were really "fun" to add, only lost 5 of them!

ok..question. Should I spray the rust paint now overall, or just around specific areas for the chipped paint look? The upper horizontal areas are pretty worn, and the edges on the real Maz.

Thanks for any input!

Hi guys, some great looking stuff happening here, unfortunately my build has hit a roadblock. I had and issue with paint rippling
Photobucket
now I need to strip it off and start over
Photobucket so I will attempt to pick up some sort of agent to soak the model in to remove the paint
Photobucket This will be my 1st attempt at something like this and may take a few day but I'll still be checking in here

ah that's unfortunate. The last time I stripped paint off of a styrene model I used this product from an automobile parts store
http://www.superkleendirect.com/productimages/superclean/product_degreaser.jpg

I let it soak submerged over night. Then gently brushed off the paint. It doesn't damage the plastic. Some oven cleaner products, as mentioned above, also work well

Would it be distasteful to join with a third (EDIT: Okay more like 4th or 5th) AFV Club M49A2C? I got one today at the local shop and hoped to use it to complete my first Armorama campaign.

Also; what is the word on era? The first post said any era, so aa apocalyptic fuel truck to support my zombie death-trucks would fit the bill?

John just through a tube of glue in the box and shack it a little and it come out built This kit is the closest Dragon kit to a Tamiya kit that I have built. But be careful around the chain hoist
My update is that the Castrol Super clean didnt work The oven cleaner that I had was shot so I got some Simple Green today and tried that I will check it tomorrow

John and Sal, be careful about Acetone. It can dissolve certain types of plastic into a rubbery mess. I am speaking of bitter experience.

I have made a little more progress on my Horch. A few more details are painted. Next are the touch up and decals.

More to follow.

sorry it didn't work for you, Sal. I agree about the acetone from experience also. Be careful with that stuff

The Horch has come together well.

My build for this campaign is a pre-CUCV and pre-MILCOT, 1955 Chevy Step Side PU.

Hi all,
already some nice builds for this campaign. It's time for me to get in with my AMX30D.
This is the Heller AMX30 kit with the Azimut AMX30D ARV conversion and I'll use the Friul track set.

From the donor kit, there will remain very few parts except the chassis.
The conversion comes with a lot of tiny parts none of them having a number. So the first job will be to ID anything in the bags.
Then the lower hull will have to be cut to fit the front resin part and the following steps should not be too hard as soon as the parts are identified

Glad to have you along! be sure to enlist on the 1st page. I've seen several builds w/ the same kit used..always better to participate in a group setting!

A zombie death truck...now thats sounds like a cool build!

I had a little setback while molding the passenger tires...

Guess its true..L.E.G.O.= let's EVERYTHING go out....

I was so upset, I decided to relax w/ my Iwata airbrush..

I used MM Rust for the base for the truck, which will peek through..hopefully...my topcoat. The body was pre- shaded w/ metalizer gunmetal. My buddy Bill uses this for all preshades, now I see why!
Thanks Bill!
