Hi,
first of all, happy new year to all of you!
I woke up early today so I made a start :
lots of parts, but the quality is okay, better than average for AA
parts fit together well, and the instructions are clear, pictures on the instructions on AA instructions can be a bit blurry sometimes, but with this kit I got lucky

Looks I got off to a late start!!! Great start on the AA kit Mat- looks like a very involved project!
Bill- You'll really like the 88 kit, sounds like a cool project your planning.

Here's my Maz- finally allowed to cut into this beast!!
I'm planning a build log for this one
The kit is the Trumpeter Maz-537 G "Late" w/ trailer . I 'm adding the Voyager PE upgrade set, and MV lens' for the lighting! Unfortunatly, spruebrothers only had one headlight in stock...
Heres the pics
Time to get building!

Happy New Year to Armorama and the rest on Kitmaker
whoa, BIG model, Mr. Heliman
I've never owned or built an AA kit before, but I've heard about them. I'll be checkin' out your build, Mr. Mat.
I just realized that I didn't even enlist yet... I will now

Happy New Year to all!! Here is my entry for the GB. I've had this one in the stash for a long time, figured it was time to blow the cobwebs off it and give it a shot. I will post build pics along the way. This will be my first GB here at Armorama, although I am enlisted in the Panther GB as well. I'm going to attempt to finish more models this year than past years, wish me luck. First couple pics are my entry and the last pic is some of the others in the stash that would fit into this GB. Good choice, Cmdr Cody. I also have the Italeri M-978 and was looking at it today with intent to build it for this campaign.
I built the ICM IT-28 earlier this year and goes together well. A few things need improvement and I looked at T-28 tank ref for details for the hull but the tracks and bridge parts are great

Don - looks like a tough decision w/ all your choices!!! Too bad we can't allow more ribbons to multiple builds.
Is that the M578 Conversion on the lower right side? hope my buddy doesn't see that!! He operated one during his field training, we both are looking at the PSM kit!
I was hoping to do a build log for the maz...but got ahead of myself building!! Guess it'll just be build progress.

That M88 is a great kit, I did it a few years ago an I was pretty amazed with everything (fitting, plastic, detailing), it my first AFV kit and I was really happy !!!
@Jeff
Finally we are going to see that "hard to get" PE set in action !!! I wil follow this thread everyday to check that MAZ !!

G'day team
I must admit to not having noticed this campaign before, and have now joined. It will give me a good excuse for another crack at a Bergepanther (not that I ever need one) - I think I'll use an Ausf G hull this time (yes, Darren, after I finish my vehicle for the Panther campaign).
Guaranteed just after I finish this one somebody will FINALLY bring out a decent kit of the Bergepanther (are you listening DML, Bronco, et al?)
Regards
Rob

Rob - great to have you along! Glad to give ya an excuse to build another kit!
John- The PE set is underway...funny you mention it!! Heres todays progress
I was warned to get the frame absolutly square..hey 8 wheels look funny in the air!!! Somebody has seen my other builds..eek! I found a glass sheet to build the frame
After gluing things up, surprising..everything is touching!!! YEA!!
I found a couple missing bolts...guess I shouldn't use my references!
Thats better!! I noticed the bolts were domed shaped..tried a dot of crazy glue and kicker..looks suitable!
More to come...

This is what John wants to see....the elusive Voyager PE set!!! I couldn't resist the PE storage box between the frame rails...ready John??
I really struggled w/ the tiny piano hinges, and thought I lost one...till our destructive kitten started playing w/ it!!! There was an issue with the box..the frame brace part A19 on STEP 8 sat too high causing the PE box to float above the frame rail! I checked the kit part, the PE box is a little taller. To fix it, I filled the recess in the frame rail w/ .020 " sheet, then sanded the top of part A19. After sanding , the box fits perfect!!! The recess was prolly fine, but hated the gap it left.
More pics to come! I'm really looking forward to the PE fenders!

I hate you - you managed to get brass hinges to work! I know all about destructive kittens. I used to have one who loved nothing better than to "help" on the bench. When she tired of that she would fall asleep under the magnifier/light where I was trying to work.
Now all I have to put up with is a large black Labrador pup who likes to chew my toes when I'm trying to model !
Regards

Pets always seem to know the best times to "help" !! My boxer wants to play ball right after I get all the sprues out of the box...spoiled dog!

I couldn't resist looking over the cab...but first, it has to go under the knife!
too late to turn back now!!!
I noticed a prominent detail missing on the kit floor...a floor mat!!! Hope it turned out ok...
Don't worry about the missing fenders..going w/ METAL!!
Test fit!!!
Any advice or comments welcome!!!

ah the MAZ, I have that one half finished in my stash, including the Voyager set. Those loading ramps for the trailer were a challenge
My Ward LaFrance is going surprisingly well. Thanks to the fact that many white metal parts were used and resin parts could be removed easily from the plug I made a lot of progress.
Not everything is perfect. I had to replace one of the bonnet side panels with Evergreen
The engine is nice, I still need to find some info on wiring and colours
the crane tower base plate, It had a few air bubbles which I filled with styrene and CA glue. Winches look great
the underside. Some resin manufactures produce these parts in resin which results in mould shift and warped parts. AA used white metal here which is imho a perfect choise. The steps behind the front axle were really thin so I made them stronger with some styrene
rear section with again beautifully cast winch
the cab, needed some hole filling but quality is okay
the boom tower, lots of detail and the part is 100% straight, a surprise since it is resin.

Some real beauties on here !! I love this campaign - all the big rigs!
Im interested in the fuel tanker kit by AFV club! - I have allways fancied that one - but what is it like quality wise?
Im started on the HET ! - I wont post to much WIP - there is plenty on the net at the moment.
cheers

Have you decided what your building yet?
Will yes, and it depends if I'm able to post photos of my build using the webshots rather than armorama's gallery. Up to you...
My planed models,
1/35thTank Workshop...M123A1C U.S. 10-ton Tractor
or
Hobby Fan...M936A2 5 ton recovery vehicle

Bill- looks great !! can't wait to see your camo
Mark- sounds like your off on a large project..just be sure to post a build pic ! Ya need it to qualify for the ribbon!
Joe- sounds like a couple great options! I should finish the M936A2...but the instructions are sorry...
I need to check about the webshots...not sure if admin will allow it? The rules say the pic has to go in gallery, but understand the circumstances.

Only a picture of the final build has to be in the Armorama gallery to count for a ribbon. The main reason is so that, eventually, a feature of the campaign can be done. In-progress pictures posted in the campaign thread can be links to other sites (and frequently are).

I think that it just sucks, it’s not like I’m winning money, or a major prize. I can understand the rules being in place for the (MOM) model of the month contest. But for a group build…I get nothing but to build a model that is shared on the site. Heck I paid for my model, glue, paints and any aftermarket. I paid my internet provider and electricity to run my modeling room…what more do I need to pay out.
I had one member say to me “you have to pay to play” referring to pay for membership for extra gallery space. Again I’m not looking to get anything free. I just want to participate.
How many times have we click onto a site to find only those little red boxes, yeah kind of P’s you off. Even if I deicide to remove photos from the gallery it would take forever, deciding which ones and only ability to remove at a time.
Ok…fine those are the rules. As Yul Brynner said “So Let It Be Written”

You don't get money, just a ribbon in your user profile. If you don't want to upload a picture of your final build to the campaign gallery, you don't have to, you just won't get a ribbon. This is the way Kitmaker group builds have always worked. I sympathize. Personally, I don't feel that uploads to the campaign gallery should count against your personal gallery limit, but it's not how the system currently works.

How long does this campaign run for? It's a shame you're not starting this at the end of this year/start of next year, i'm just bringing an old project out of hibernation & starting it off all over again. Scratchbuilding the master pattern for a 1:24 scale Australian Army Mack HRV (Heavy Recovery Vehicle)... here's the old 1:25 version that's been 'scrapped'
I'm not sure about in the US, but in the UK & Australia the recovery support is done by REME/RAEME respectively (sorry to my NZ counterparts, i'm not sure what you're corps are called)... This in mind, the Engineers colours are incorrect, they sould be more like the REME/RAEME corps colours.

I have added a ribbon for the campaign, it consists of crossed hammer and pickaxe over the colours of the Engineers.
