I have been struggling w/ the tread plates on the maz trailer. They had multiple bends, and very fragile. FINALLY it hit me..I needed to use my "bug" bender!! Hopefully the next few pics helps someone..

The first bend ..

the second..

now flip the tread over and bend a third time..nice tight 90's

last bend..

perfectly folded treads!!! now..repeat that 19 more times..

I found an issue w/ the Voyager set. The kit has a plate for the jackscrew on the load ramps..part# K 34 thats supposed to attach under the ramps. Voyager doesn't show this plate, but does include it in the set..number J-2 . There was no way I was adding that chunking plastic part to my brass ramps!!

Leave off parts K-16 and K-17 if the ramps are lowered.

I'll leave w/ a progress pic of the truck. Its my first time attempting the hairspray method, and working pretty well. I went a little deep on the cab.

I personnally didn't notice such a requirement for this campaign. I can add the date in a future picture if the campaign leader requires it.

The rules didn't require a dated picture for our builds, I figure it comes down to honesty on the builder. Hey, I'm not planning to haunt ya if ya started early!!

The main rule was to have fun..and sounds like that is a success

Enjoy the builds!

Jeff

Ok cool, I agree with all that for sure.

SGTJKJ - well done on your Horch. The canvas windshield cover looks real

Jeff nice work with that PE bending machine what and where did u get it
I have tried to recover my Bergpanzer here at the Recovery Campaign and this is what I have come up with
Photobucket
after phill pointed out that I went with rubber on the road wheels he suggested mud and muck
Photobucket
I also gave it some washes and tried to show some paint ware where the chains and cables would rub on the hull
Photobucket
After my paint night mare I kind of lost thought and momentum here so any other suggestions are more then welcome before I shoot it with a coat of dull and call it finished

The bracket was an electronics component. The lens looks weird in this picture because they are tacked in place with tac-putty temporarily

Bolt details were made by slicing hex rod then gluing them in place next to the tailgate hinge on both sides

This pickup is a small rear window cab version. Work will continue on this . . .

Here are some more pictures of my slow progress with the AMX30D.
I had to remove the small bits of resin that help positioning some parts because they did not line up with the part legs. I filled some holes too. Azimut made some mistakes and have located a number of part too far to the rear. With the amount of pictures of the real vehicle I have this was an easy thing to spot.
I got a more annoying problem when I tried to place the exhausts. They simply did not sit horizontally because of the height of the fender stiffener. Moreover, the fender is slightly curved which Azimut missed. I cut the stiffener and with a soldering iron I heated the fender to bend it. I also sanded the stiffener to reduce its height. Now it looks OK.
The last picture is a general view.

Hey guys, some more work got done this week, amazingly.

The frame fell together almost, much easier than Italeri's M925 or ICM's URAL; the only other 1/35 trucks I've built.

Still have to add some details to the fenders and place them on the tank.
Will start painting the wheels tomorrow... I hope.

Mark- no worries..we still have plenty of time for you to complete your trailer! My buddy is building a HET right now...very detailed kit!

John- well, its not a MAZ ..but looks good anyways! J/K excited to see further update pics

My trailer just received its first coat of paint..MM gunmetal for that aged steel appearance. I really hated to cover all the brass details, but the build must go on! I'll add the hairspray, cover w/ green..chip..boy I have a lot of work ahead!

I know Jeff it ain't the MAZ.. but with this one I'm sure I'll get it done on time.
I hate to have so many unfinished builds, scattered on 2 different houses 10 or 12 unfinished kits and a HUGE stash..

I will use your MAZ build as a visual help for mine , even if I'm not adding the voyager PE set, it's a great build you should be proud !!

I will try to post the next update on the wheels and start the paint job.

Thanks John..the maz is quite a kit OOB, but the Voyager really adds great details!

Heres my latest progress...a little plumbing on the trailer tanks

speaking of Voyager..they missed a prominent detail along the trailer side..I broke out the "bug" and out popped this..

Now I had to try out intentionally ruining a great paint job..

Heres my attempt @ paint chipping using the "hairspray " method on the gooseneck

the trailer ramps came out decent

Thanks Jeff !!!
Here the latest update, sorry about the dark & blurry shots by the way..

I applied several filters for the dark yellos tone, I wanted to add some different shades to the dark yellow colour before doing the camo.
The green patches were made by the crew so differnt sizes & shapes, I used RLM 70 Black green.

The brown tone..

Decals too.
I also added a wash of a Tamyia buff/earth mixture to blend the colours a little.
Next step I will add again some filters.
Still to come on the next update, MG mount, equipment, jack & cranes.

Hi Sal, thanks for the kind words.
It was done with a brush, after these pics I worked on the filters, I used the German set filter.

I will try to post some pics to show how these filters interact with the base paint, it might be helpful to other members.

Anyway still a lot to do here..

Thanks again !!!

Here's another update, again sorry for the photos, I was in a hurry, I will try to post some better ones soon.

Filters applied over the camo.
winch painted and weathered, some light chipping in dark yellow over some of the camo but also some steel chipping very light over some worn edges.
I'm working on the extra equipment, jack, shovel, hammers, MG's, spare tracks, cables,etc..

I will only add some pin washes and pigments and will call it done !!! Maybe next week, not sure yet.
