Once again Tomislav,a great job.
I have been waiting for some stuff to come in the mail, should be this week I hope. This is what I've gotten done.
We have some lightly weathered wheels...
The MG and the breech...
The turret and hatches...
I think I will leave the hatches open so you can see the breech and the seats.
One note of interest,I had to make one of the smoke discharge tubes, there where only 3 in the kit,and it shows 4.If any of you guys run into this problem in the future, just use an extra torsion bar from a 1/35th Panther. The section between the really thin part and the swing arm is just about the perfect size.Just cut to length and there you go Model on,Jeff T.

New Zealander Sherman is progressing well. The hull and turret are done and the shims are in place above the tracks. Just have to scratchbuild the box on the turret. Very fun build so far.

Hey Jeff.......it's a Verlinden set that came out not too long ago. Equipment-wise, it is geared for an American Sherman so some items I won't use since I am doing a Commonwealth one.(infantry equipment, hedgrow-cutter etc.) Really, nice resin though. No flash and nice detail and very little cutting. Need those sand bags to try to ward off those PAK 40's.!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards, Ian

Ian...Who did you get the stowage from?It looks like it would be good just to have.A man can never have too much stowage

I got some of my stuff today. Here's what I've been up to while I wait for the rest.
Put some hooks on the turret
Don't know if it's correct but I put some grab handles on the hatches. They just looked like they needed some
And here's what came in the mail today.
It came with 3 tips, one of which is a.25mm.I'm hoping that the smaller tip will help with smaller scale stuff.Jeff T.

Hey Jeff, I got the Sherman stowage set from either Squadron or Spruebrothers....can't remember which but it was definitely one of the two and within the past year.

The Sherman project has hit a minor stumbling block. Found out that the NZ 4th Armd. Bde. Sherman III I had picked out to replicate had the cast transmission cover instead of the welded one so I pulled the welded one off and have a resin cast one on the way from the Tank Workshop. Hopefully it will be here by the weekend. At least I hadn't painted the tank yet.

Regards, Ian

Oookay! Here's my selection for this campaign!

When I purchased it off eBay many, many moons ago it had the shrink wrap on it and several pieces had fallen off the sprues.

So, I quickly gathered some sandwhich bags and stored them inside so they would not become "lost".

Now I have a reason to build this fairly rare bird!

Nice work on the figures Greg. And the ruble ... scratch made or from a kit?

The choice and variety on the size of the stones used is realistic.

Greg, great looking T-34. Good weathering and fading on the finish as well. Can't wait to see the whole project completed.

Hi all,

well, after seeing all these good works here i'm going to show my little begining.
As i did not built a plane since more than a year, i spent all my time with figures..., i'm not going very fast.
So i come here with the Eduard Avia 534 kit:

cheers

Thanks all!

Jeff T - The street pigments were just put on dry, but the sewer brick I used Testors enamel thinner to get it to flow into the cracks better.

Jeff S - The stone rubble is from Kancali they sell bags of assorted bricks and also they have a street material you can roll out and cut with scissors that's pretty useful. The figure with camo I applied with a toothpick. The figures I'm trying 3 layers: dark base - mixed dk/highlight - highlight. The first layer painted on and the other 2 drybrushed.

Nico - nice to see it started

Well....this was entertaining. My cast transmission arrived from the Tank Workshop today so I sawed off the front end of the metal hull, including the welded transmission cover I had already put on and installed the resin piece. The resin piece fit great once I got the metal front piece off. Didn't quite anticipate Dewalt power tools being used for this project but hey it worked. I put the hull back together since I had to rip it off to get the resin on. Put new sheet stock hull overhangs on and got everything reassembled. Scratchbuilt a new stowage box for the turret and got it attached as well. Also went ahead and mounted the sandbag piece for the front of the hull. Should go pretty smoothly from here on out. I should have paid more attention to the photos before I put the wrong transmission cover on.

Regards, Ian

Ian: nice work on the Shermie.

JT: Looks great. I think for the CM, 3 shades would be better. You might cruise the AK Interactive website for some tutorial info and examples. Even if you don't use one of their sets for the CM, it should at least give you some pointers.

I wish I was making more progress but right now I have a 2 yr old that keeps pulling meaway from the table everytime I sit down to work on something.

Thanks Jeff.................I wasn't sure how sawing through a metal hull was going to go but everything went well, fortunately. In answer to your shading question, I think three or more shades of pigment would work the best, especially on a piece of armor. As an alternative to pre-shading, I have been using post-shading with Tamiya Smoke thinned about 50-50 with Tamiya thinner. You can shoot your panel lines or shaded areas from barely discernible to very heavy, depending on what look you want. . Also, you can tint it with other acrylics if you want to change the color of your shading....brown, umber, scale black, grimy, etc. The Tamiya Smoke works well for exhaust stains, gun residue etc., if you really apply it heavily. I have been very happy with the results so far. The main thing is to get a good Smoke/Thinner mixture and shoot it at low air pressure.

Regards, Ian
