OH-TAH!!! I have a T-28 on the way!
Anything I should know about it before it arrives? Pretty easy build and no problems?
~ Jeff
Jeff, watch out for a instruction sheet update. And watch when putting the outer tread armor there will be a gap if not done correctly

What Sal?
Got any references?
Found a deal on one for 58 bucks... so I jumped on it. I've always loved the vehicle and basically worshiped the thing when it was at the Patton Museum. I also contemplated several times on buying the AA kit, but man!
Oh well, kits are not perfect and thanks for the heads up.

OK, I have a question; I have a started 1:35 Dragon Maus, turret is complete, but hull & running gear/track is untouched, can I enter it? I'm not sure how to determine if it's more than 10% started.
Thanks a bunch,
Kevin

I did some digging around on the Internet and found this:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/110741/thread/1353917129/T-28+Super+Heavy+Tank+-+Dragon+-+1-35+-+part+02One... I didn't know HOW much larger the vehicle was:
And two (and for now) the tracks need the guide horns glued on.
WHAT?
Yikes!
Looks as bad as individual links.
But the link does look educational on detail items needing attention!

Interesting Jagdtiger Jeff. Is that a Jagdpanther gun?

I don't know Kevin, it's not my photo or build but taken from the link provided.
I have walked around the beast T28 and it's no wonder it's bigger than the Tortoise.
Bigger is always better especially for me.

Now you understand why that kit was so hated Jeff? Someone here on Armorama was actually offering to give theirs away for free because they were so annoyed with it. I think it ended up going to one of those programs for veterans and active duty. (That photo really makes me want to join the campaign but I've got enough of them already!)
Kevin, it's an 88mm from a Jagdpanther. The Germans were running out of 128mm guns during production of the Jagdtiger so 'around twenty' were built with 88's instead.

Hard to believe they're both 1:35 scale.

My upper deck plate is warped all to heck, so I'm having to straighten and glue side armor as I go along.

I'll also be adding one figure to the base; a Russian soldier, from Dragon or Trumpeter, I don't recall which.

Well, love them or hate them... it's good to digest some of this before I get it.
I hate indy links. Sorry, I just don't think a item in the kit should be such a milestone over the actual building of the kit. These guide horns (now that I know) will be okay now that I have thought up a plan.
I have just been in love with this AFV for all my life and the cost compared to the AA kit is just going to be.

Hey,
Still hoping that someone has or can point me in the direction of some info on the way the outer run of tracks is driven on the T-28, I have an idea on how I want to display mine but will need some info to do it.
Thanks.
Cheers Rob.

A little liquid cement, a little super glue, and Presto! (Why I'm sitting inside on such a gorgeous day, I have no idea.)

Jeff the guide horn are not that bad
The way I did mine was to cut ten off put ten drops of glue then place the horn on with tweezers I think I lost a total of 3 to the carpet monster but Dragon gives plenty of extras

Nice progress Jagdtiger46, I am very tempted to got back and fix my Maus one day. I had exactly the same issue with the warped top plate but being a kid at the time had no idea how to fix it!
The scale of the Maus/E100 is pretty insane. I have mine displayed on the same shelf as a Pz1 and it could crush it with one track

Jeff, really all you need to do is figure out how you plan on displaying it, and only add the teeth where they'll be visible.
I'll agree it's a fantastic AFV and despite all the criticisms of it I'll probably eventually build it just because it looks so damn mean.
Rob, I've never seen anything to suggest the secondary tracks were driven at all (though I'm likely to be dead wrong). I don't remember where I read it but the outer tracks were supposed to be very quick to attach and dismount. During development the designers actually found a small group of people with no experience on the T28 who were willing to do a test fit of the tracks. Their first attempt took three hours, by the fourth attempt they had it down to around thirty minutes. At the very most I could imagine some sort of 'spacer' bolted to the two drive wheels, anything more complex would take far longer.

Jeff beat me to the punch.
Those are bolted to the outer track runs. (On an off note it seems like, considering the length of the drive-shaft from the transmission to the permanent drive-wheel, the bolt on spacer and the secondary drive-wheel would create an enormous amount of stress.)

Hope this doesn't offend anyone but I am starting to get a warm fuzzy feeling inside by all this T28 talk... and my kit to arrive sometime next week.
I have yet to find a picture of those cranes in action. I used to have a link with all that information but when my power supply died on my other PC and took the mother board with it, I just couldn't go through the thousands of saved stuff on the hard drive.
I've seen this scratch built in 1/6 scale and I just wonder how hard it would be in 1/16? I mean, I can get all the running gear.

Jeff,
I'm currently in the same boat
I just lost my SSD drive and I had some pics of the drive on the inside sprocket but it was not very clear and now it's gone.
Cheers Rob.
