So sad, but unless there is a sizable extension... I will not be able to finish in time.

I was warned enough but the tracks got me and distracted me and finished me. New inspiration is the only thing that will save it but it will get built.

Ha! here i was using the deadline to work intensively on my Tortoise!

but yeah, i'll take an extra month if others are lobbying for it.

here is my progress:

the suspension was a complete $!+@#, and I even used the modified assembly technique suggest on many of the online builds - so glad that is over! need to clean up some damage to some of the lower bogies tho

and here is how i handled the two join seams for the back part of the cast upper hull (which is molded separately but the real deal is one piece - forgot to take a before pic). Lots of scraping with an xacto knife and tons of liquid glue to basically weld it all together and texture it:

I don't know if a request has been sent to John the Campaigns Administrator yet but I went ahead and did so because I need to know soon if I can push my build through!

Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes.

So I finally finished my T-28. Got the 'glass', headlights and tools installed.
Found a shake-can of Testor's Flat Lacquer to bring the yellow more in line with the the other colors. NASTY stuff, I'd advise using it only outdoors and I used my paintmask while spraying it.

A little bit childish but, as I don't have any dioramas setup the only way I could approximate the effectiveness of this camouflage is out in my gardens

So I'm calling this done.

Corsair that T-28 is bad ass looking and can you can barely see it lurking in the vegetation of your yard My only question is why not add the yellow to the mantel as well
Great job anyway

Vance, shes looking good dude. Just what is the `modified technique´on the running gear?

Jeff, just do the tracks you actually need, the top run will never be seen so just leave it off.
Or are you doing the transit version with towed outer sponsons?

J.Poitras, lovely looking T28 you can only just make it out
on the second row from the right.

well, it looks like the thread i used as a reference is gone, but basically michael shackleton (who, i think, also posts here occasionally) suggested trapping the arms that resides between the boogies between the two blocks as one assembly, the two sets of bogie sides per unit as separate assemblies, then combining once the glue is dry - the middle arms can then be snapped into place later at your convenience (assuming you were careful with the glue).

those arms were still difficult to pop into place before i found that spreading the receiver arms with a small tapered file simplified things a lot.

this all probably doesn't make sense unless you are dealing with the A39 suspension already...

advice to anyone doing this kit - trap the bogie assemblies in the outter skirt and then glue both bogies and skirt - just trying to get the bogies to line up with the skirt later after gluing them to the hull only (so you can take the skirt off later and get the tracks on) is apparently NOT the way to do it no matter how careful you are trying to be! (GRRR) This kit is clearly best done with tracks going on after the skirt (meaning you have to leave off the top section that would go over the return rollers. the good news is, no one will ever be able to tell the differance when the model is done - also means you don't have to put all the fine detail parts on the bogies, like the return rollers and whatnot.

not a kit for beginners - it challenged me, and i have something like 30 years of building models under my belt - though smaller fingers and a different tactical approach probably would have helped a lot...

Hi Vance,
how long did the running gear take you with that method?

It took me about 5 hours to get both sides done as per instructions.

Keith, cool build there, seeing that I wish I'd done the counter-camo on the barrel too. Maybe next time.

Keith: that weathering looks fantastic!
Vance: I hear you on the tracks. Between painting, repainting and again AND repairs to the bogies I was very lucky these are vinyl. If they had been individual links I'd probably still be threading them through.
Sal: I don't know why the mantel didn't get any yellow, I blame the crew

Now how to make a WHAT-IF version----but what?!? Tesla weapon? 203mm Howitzer? half exposed Turbine engines?

Hmmmmm . . . a 203mm used in direct fire mode . . .
insert maniacal snicker . . .

Here are my finished photos of the T-28 Super Heavy. Taking photos was a problem as it is a very long model in the mode I modeled it in.
There are a look of great models in this campaign and I'm pleased to be a little part of it.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, the third image is now my Desktop (hope you don't mind) Background for now.

It will serve as inspiration for my KMA Build!
