This is a campaign I've fancied modelling for years as it was the first real movement during WW2. The campaign as you all probably know was the German invasion of Luxembourg, Holland, Belgium and France so plenty of scope there. With all the British and French goodies that have been released over the last couple of years, both armour and softskins loads to choose from.
I was thinking of a start date as Jan 1st 2014 and ending Dec 31st 2014 so that gives us a year as if people are working on large dios they're at a disadvantage as they're building multiple things (vehicles, scenery, buildings etc). It also gives everyone aplenty of time for research as well. It won't be just a dio campaign but dios are always more than welcome
I hate rushing things personally as I'm sure most of you do hence a long campaign which is ironic seeing as the real one was over in a flash . It's also an opportunity to model things we don't see a lot of rather than the usual Shermans, Tigers, Panthers etc. Any thoughts gents?

Hi Karl,
Let me see if I understand this 1, Anything that was used during the invasion of western Europe in 1940. So if one was inclined to build German vehicle it would be an early version in the dark gray, dioramas are welcome but not mandatory. Time frame seams good to me so I'm in

Hello Karl,
well I just looked at my stash, and it says I only have the "Dragon Panzer IV E mit Vorpanzer" that could fit this. I might have to leave the Vorpanzerung off, but that's no problem.
I'll take part

That's 5! 5 more to go and then I can submit it. Sal, it's any vehicle used during the op so the German stuff was panzer Grey at that time. Stand alone vehicles, vignettes, dioramas anything goes.

Fall Gelb....
The Low Countries and France. It's May, 1940. The original Blitzkrieg following the fabulous "Sitzkrieg".
I'll put my hand up for this one - several kits I have on hand could fit - French, Brit, German. Just picked up the Dragon Panzer III E "France 1940" kit! Could be my ticket.
BTW. The regulation 1937 - 1940 German armor paint scheme of 1/3 brown 2/3 dark gray was still-in-place for Fall Gelb. While clearly many vehicles were already sporting the soon-to-be-regulation (as of 01 AUG 1940) dunkelgrau-only paint scheme in France in May - June 1940, that was NOT the current regulation scheme when the Blitz kicked off, and still not the orders when it ended.
So... all German modelers: for almost everything from Panzer I and SdKfz 13/14 up, brown over gray would be quite likely correct - but gray-only OK for newest-painted stuff, I think.
German units apparently stopped directly buying unit paint supplies by mid-June 1940 - after "Fall Gelb" (technically the initial invasion of France and the Low Countries - ended with the withdrawal of the British ExForce ca 05 June 1940, and was replaced by "Fall Rot", which completed the French campaign leading to the Armistice on 22 June) ended, and unit supplies of the brown rapidly vanished.
As units and crews were responsible for painting the brown onto tanks delivered to unit depots in plain gray, doubtless all-gray vehicles became more and more the norm in June 1940 as there was no more brown paint available to paint new vehicles and repaint repaired vehicles.
I, for one, plan on clanking into this campaign in brown over gray, presuming that I come in German livery!
Cheers!
Bob

I just recently picked up the Tamiya Char B1, I would be in, and time frame looks right. I have some other stuff too, German Panzer IV Ausf.A and Valentine Mk.IX, so it may have to be a game day decision, but I am definately in.

Nice to see the numbers growing . I've started my research as I'm going for the counterattack at Arras. Found this site which is quite useful for info on the 7th Panzer Division http://www.panzertruppen.org/amazon/books/prussia/7th.pdf as I was trying to work out which Panzers would be in use around Arras. I was really surprised at how many 38 (t)'s were used but by all accounts it was a good little tank. This is a real learning curve for me already as we tend to go for the bigger more glamorous tanks as modellers, Panthers, Fireflies etc so this is going to be really interesting for me. I'm actually going to build some German tanks for a change (however I do have a Matilda II in the stash to backdate)

Sal, glad to be of help . If ever I find anything as useful as that I like to share it. Once I've finished all my digging then I can think about which kits I need

Doh, realized the Valentine would be out, as they did not enter service until '41.

I have several French/British/German possibilities so, even though I'm in too many campaigns already, I'm signed up!
Karl, you might want to change the language in the "Contest Element" section as it says "...one kit equals one ribbon." I think you wanted to say "one MODELLER equals one ribbon". Just my thought.

Hi Michael, it is what I meant. I know sometimes if people are building a dio they may be put off a campaign as they think they've got to complete the whole dio to qualify for the ribbon whereas some people just like to build the one vehicle. Therefore to put modellers on a level playing field, one vehicle qualifies them as having completed. I seldom just build one vehicle as I prefer to display them in dios so generally there's quite a few plus infantry and naturally the scenery so it is quite a long winded job. Someone may have a big dio and not finish it in time but so long as they complete one vehicle to include in their dio they'll qualify Do you see my point? . It's encouraging people to participate but leaving out the pressure of time aspect.
