Sascha, I hear that kit builds up really nice, let me know how it comes along. I may have to put that on my Christmas list.

Hellbent so far everything I have done with this kit has went together great no flash and very little clean up. don't like the camo schemes on my vehicles so im going with the winter pattern or some other type of solid based color once I get to the painting stages

The 251 Stuka zu Fus is nearing the home strech
Working with the lighter shade of red-brown from the Mig/Ammo late war colors set, but I am not sure I am liking the tone. Will have to see after some weathering efforts. It looks too rusty red but these are also fluro light pics too.
Then there is the bane of my model-completing existance.. @#$#$ Fruil...
If the end results (on everybody else's models) weren't so good..lord do I hates me some Fruils
Their wire is too flimsy and magnetic, so after a little measuring and figuring, I cut a bit of tubing to length and made pins to fit from brass wire. These are 'handed' and have cast pins on one edge, which ought to be a plus, but this means that the brass pin I use cannot fit snugly into that side.
So like that 4th link in the bottom row, it means that the side with the cast pin (read as the outside) is the weakest and most likely to fail.
Am I the ONLY one wishing Fruil still made the ancient 'pinch to join' links they made back in the day?
Spraying the green later today.
Mike

More progress on the 251
spent a little time yesterday chipping nad scratching the rocket mount frames.
Glossed the rockets before decaling.
Filtered and washed the body and roadwheels
Did I mention how much I dislike the Fruils?
What a pain! At this point I am about to switch gears and build up a whole set of DML links, it will be faster and less painful.
I know folks get good results with them, but the smaller links 251's and M113's are more of a pain than they are worth.

Alright!
Finished my other projects, now back to the 252.
Figured out how I screwed up placing the sides, but as its superglued I'm gonna have to fake it.
Nice pictures all round--especially your camo Mike
Pictures soon

Thanks for the kind words gents,
The start of a new school year as a hard for the teacher as the students to get any bench time and then add some #$%@#$ golfer's elbow.. and I dont even PLAY golf..
Trying to finish for Armorcon next weekend. Going to be close.
It really does not look it, but there are 3-4 layers of paint on those wood frame crates, almost looks like bare plastic in these pics.. grrrr..
Happier with the stained and dusty rockets. I was really surprised at how grungy the rockets looked in all my reference images.
Happier with the inital chipping on the fenders and muffler.
have to lightly mark and then chip the places where the frames rest on the hull sides and edges too.
wish me luck..

A little more on the crates in the middle of the honey-do list this morning. Added some Vallejo Burnt Umber thinned down to the level of a filter. Happier with the wood now.
But I am getting perliously close to the 'one more layer and the whole thing is wrecked' level of fiddling with the paint job.

Colin
Looking really good. Three thoughts:
1. With that amount of wear on the treadplate floor, I would expect to see bare metal on the top of the raised bits?
2. WW2 German fire extinguishers were dark blue, dark grey or dark green but not red.
3. Rifles should have slings (yes, I know it's a pain!)
Regards
Rob

Thanks Rob!
1. Absolutely! I had brushed some steel on, but after my muddy wash it seems to have toned down a lot , I'll have to go back and hit it again.
2. Thanks for the tip! Not looking forward to repainting them with the top on though...
3. I plead laziness at this point! Was rushing a bit to get it together and figured once the top was on you wouldn't really see them...
