Looking forward to see your builds Sam.
Welcome to the campaign.
I'm also building two 251 versions. My 251 C Pioneer conversion is almost finished. My second 251 C just got the engine in and I will install the rest of the parts today.
Had to make some cuts but it fits now.

Cheers,

RJ

I have done some work on mine honest - in fact the interior parts are all done and ready to be painted... work & life is getting in the way just at the moment so not sure when I will get round to painting - and am camera-less as well so no photos (well I could take them with my phone but that sucks)...

Looking for some help from the Accuracy Police: Does anyone have any evidence to indicate GREIF actually had the rack of four rifles that seem to be standard equipment on the interior of the SdKfz 250 as an infantry transport? My kit has them, but I can't help but think that the command vehicle would not have had that since everyone in it would have had sidearms or machine pistols for self-defense. Anyone have anything more definitive than speculation?

Hi.
I found at least 5 versions of the Greif on The-Blueprints.com. Armor, outside and inside is all different. Issue with the extra rifles, I can not give a straight answer. Consider some artistic freedom when building?
The link is shown some pages back in this 251 campaign.

RJ

Well, it´s actually just an assuption, but I´ve checked some pics:
here we´ve got a shof from what I think were the manual from the 250/3: http://www.militarymodelling.com/forums/postings.asp?th=49998
It shows the 4 K98 in the place they should be...
But then again I haven´t found a single "in action"- interior pic of a 250/3... so´d say leave one or two rifles in and fill the other space with something more usefull for a command car, bags, mapcases eg...

Robert and Fabian,
Dank U Wel and Vielen Dank. My inclination is to install the rack, but leave out the rifles. Perhaps, as Fabian suggests, hanging some binoculars or other random kit from the rack.

Hi all.
Some progress on the Pioneer. I'm in a phase of detailing the vehicel. Today the radio got in. Did some painting on the other one in the meantime and except for the wheels and the front & doors of the Hanomag, decals are the only things left to do.

Radio has a speaker, headphone and microphone. Wires to the battery and antenna.

Cheers,

RJ

Thanks Alan.
I'm going to make some better pictures today. Light wasn't good yesterday. Pioneer is near to a finish. Tracks are to be painted. Some weathering and changes in color.
Looking for a way to hang Jerrycans too.

Cheers,

RJ

Hi.
Photo update on the works for the Sd.Kfz.251 C Pioneer version I'm building.
Except for the tracks and a Jerrycan to be fitted on the back the Hanomag is ready to go.
Tracks and wheels need a paintjob and also the track will glued to the wheels.
I will let it rest for a day or 2, makes it easier to judge on little mistakes I've made.

Some pictures... Hope you all enjoy

Concentration on the other one now. Still a lot to be done.
Some nice detailing and painting.

Cheers,

RJ

Hey Sam, here we´ve got the third 250/251 which I got in my stash... pretty nice kit I have to say... any ideas for the markings? I thought of building Guderians ride someday...

I just recived some PE for the Greif and feel slightly tempted to switch... but then again I want to try some burning fuel for my Flammpanzerwagen... I guess I´m doing some tests and decide then

Nice start everyone.
My contribution hasn't started as well.
The interior went well and I like the paint in it (show y'all later)
But when I got the sides attached the back corners didn't line up.
Looks like I'll have to fill with some styrene and maybe cover up the whole back end with a tarp

Hi.
That's a nasty gap indeed.
Question from my side: Can anyone give me outcome on antennas.
I want to scratch a 'radio car'out of the 251/1 C. Will be a fieldconversion. In times of need everything was possible at the Russian front I suppose. Are there any examples available in builds or photomaterial.
I read somewhere on the net that antennas got replaced from other vehicles to the 251. Basic construction is very basic.
What will be the extra to fit it in a realistic way?

Cheers,

RJ
