There are some really nice armor builds here and I am learning some different techniques for my own build. This Ark Pz Kpfw II Ausf J is so easy it is like throwing a tube of glue in the box and just giving it a shake then out comes a tank except for the soft plastic. Here is what was accomplished yesterday.

@Michael, I am retired and had nothing better to do than play at the work table all day. It was not me, the kit just fell together as I stated like a shake and bake.

Nice, clean build Bob. I think it's the same as the Alan kit (?) That last pic reminds me of my build that's been sitting on the shelf for quite a while -- maybe time to get some paint on it as well. Cheers, Tat

@Tat: I painted a base coat of grey on the Pz, but have left it on the desk for a week to do other stuff. I guess it is time to do more to it.

Got my PzIc primed yesterday afternoon so things are coming together. Big challenge now is coming up with a decent looking set of tow cables. Normally not a challenge for the larger vehicles, but mimicking the petite nature of the PzIc's tow cables and the manner in which they were stored is proving to be a challenge. I've tried a few different options, but none satisfactory. I'm just about ready to toss in the towel on the tow cables unless someone has hit on a decent solution.

Sewing string? Taking a few strands of string and putting one end in a vice and twisting them?

I've actualy got some copper wire about the thickness of very fine hair that I've tried winding, but it doesn't have the springiness to keep a tight arc like I see in photos. I suspect the same would hold true with thread. I tried guitar string, but it's too springy and would pop the PE holders off the turret.

No pictures yet but I have started the M41. The gun tube needed some fill and sanding as did the turret bustle bottom. The turret lifing eyes were butt joints to the turret in small dipples and were always going off center. I also drilled out the vision blocks and will fill them with Crystal Clear after painting.

The hull fit together qute nicely. Hope to have some pictures soon.

Mark. The good thing about string, it can be pulled taught into which shape you so desire.

Thomas. I suspect that I'll be starting my M41 soon as well. Just have a few figgys to finish for a GB on a different site.

Well here are some shots of the build. So far the fit is good but the fenders needed some fitting. The mantle cover is not glued on yet.

Still muddling on with this one. As a newbie, I've not quite got a proper 'process' going, so I keep having to go back to paint bits which have been washed etc in the wrong finish

I think next steps will be repaint some lost details, paint any chips or scratches, then put the whole lot together (wheels, tracks, stowage, etc) for final weathering.

Cheers, Paul.

Paul the panzer II is looking good.

I'm definitely having a few fit issues with M41 that I have not had with any AFV kits I have built. I wonder if AFV has the better kit especially with the fenders. Well too late now.

Hey Paul, one question. How'd you get that redish tinge below the grey?

Ok. I will be starting the AFV Club M41 soon. Heres the sprue shots:

I will be using AFV Club's M41 tracks in this build. If possible I will try to get some Vietnam era infantry equipment and use that as well on the tank as well.

Hello Mike,

I primed the kit in Vallejo black primer, then painted Tamiya XF63 with patches of XF10. The whole lot was then filtered and washed with various dark colours.

Good luck with your M41!

Cheers, Paul

Thanks for the info. And the AFV Club M41 so far is a dream to put together. The fit is extraordinary. I completely finished the suspension except for the suspension buffers(?) on one side and the road wheels/idler wheels/drive sprockets all last night.

Finally started on my entry.

So far it hasn't been horrible to build. But I must say thank goodness for quick setting super glue. Most of the major parts don't interlock, they're just jam fit against each other,

More work done on the M41A3. I'm almost halfway done building this thing. Man these small tanks go fast. These pictures where taken after I took a break... then went back to building some more. Since they were taken I have almost completed the upper hull and have started on the turret.

This one is going together pretty well so far. Kind of sketchy in some places but overall not many fit problems, very very little flash and what flash there was was on the very small nodes and pieces and was easily cleaned up.

Just discovered that I have an entire sprue missing from my kit that was factory sealed when I received it. Now to contact a Polish company whose website doesn't translate into english. This should be an adventure.

I do believe that I will have to do it that way.
