Hi folks,

These are two NZ troops I finally got around to completing:

To finish off the MB Officer I added a small haversack and bino case:

and for the tanker who looks to have the pose of a WO I added a small swagger stick.

That's as much as I want to do at this point on all these chaps.

Cheers

Here is my entry. It's Airborne Miniatures' 120mm German KSK. I converted it using a Verlinden "Soldier 2000" backpack with spare parts. Additional spare parts for the pouches, G36 gun, and figure were bought from Airborne Miniatures.

My idea is to make a Sci-Fi Rebel fighter similar to the Star Wars Rebels on Hoth. While I don't intend to make this a Star Wars figure, I am striving for a similar look.

This is my second entry for this campaign, its Evolution Miniatures Soviet Officer of the GRU from Afghanistan. Its my first time working in resin and I'm not sure how much fun it really is, but the detail is undeniable. This little well packaged kit is full of pieces as this guy is carrying everything but the kitchen sink. He has a LAW wrapped in a sleeping back, AK with grenade launcher, full vest and a jacket with fur lining all rolled up. It also has a base with rocks and he is in a dramatic pose with a determined look on his face.

He just fell together except for the gun which has the hands attached, for this I had to file and fill with putty to make everything fit, and of course I broke the barrel of the rifle, oops.

Once the putty is dry he will go onto the base and then get a good bath before painting.

Looking at this picture I see I forgot to attach the foldable stock to the rifle, you see, posting is an indispensable part of the modeling process.

Thanks for looking,
Bryan

Howdy Y'all
I haven't had much modeling time but I did get a few hours in this Memorial Day weekend. I worked on my Panzer Grenadier w/Panzerfaust.

This figure has been giving me fits. I lost a head and used a resin replacement head. The head was not the greatest and now I have a soldier looking down, studying the ground with a giant helmet strap and pencil neck.
The other two figures and the base are for the Operation Market Garden campaign.

Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Great job to all above! And welcome to the new startups!

’Tug of War’ update. 'Lucy's bad hair day!'

I finally got up the courage to sculpt the hair and head-scarf on the main female character.

Still needs some touch-up and adjustment but I think she came out sort of okay. Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers!🍺

Mike, Frau Tugs a lot looks great, I wouldn't tug o war with her, even in 1/35.

Latest update,

Well I had broken the barrel off my GRU commanders AK-74/GP-25, I superglued it back on but of course broke it off again. I'm not sure how much I like working with the brittle Resin but the detail is undeniable. I drilled out the rifle and put in a piece of needle for the barrel and attached the flash depressor to the needle along with the gas blow back tube (I think) underneath from some wire.

I washed and primed all the pieces and this afternoon went after our hero's face. Because I have never painted a 1/35 figure I read a lot and watched lots of tutorials. I used the method described by Scale Warmachines on YouTube which was very clear:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no2zBike6Q0

I think the hardest part were the lines on his hat but I think they will have to do as I only have a few more days to finish this guy before I have to report for a month of Reserve duty.

Hope you like him so far,

I'm really enjoying watching all the different techniques on this campaign.

Cheers,
Bryan

Hey Bryan, As I’m sure you are fully aware, it pays to keep the workbench weaponry in ‘semi-auto-scratch’ mode at all times … parts snap, they fly and get eaten by the Carpet Monster! The ability to recover is pure necessity in this war!

Nice work on the beanie; it looks great from here!

Thank you for your service.

Thanks guys for you comments,

So at first I didn't like the resin, but as i progress in painting this guy the details I am able to pick out are amazing. I think I am sold, it is worth the slightly more challenging construction phase.

I am on the clock so I put on "A Bridge Too Far" tonight and pressed on blocking off most of the larger colors on the body and equipment:

Next up is the rifle then gloves (or maybe vice-a-versa, suggestions?), detailing and then the base. Then all will get a clear coat for washing and pigments, these will be employed especially on the base, boots and knees.

Thanks for looking,
Bryan

Its my honor to present Evolution Miniatures GRU Commander in Afghanistan. This was a lot of fun, painted with Vallejo Acrylic and finished with a couple of ground up chalk pastels.

I had a great time painting this figure and the previous four, I will upload some photos to the campaign gallery. Does 1 collage photo like the kind I always use count as "two quality photos"?

Thanks,
Bryan

Pete, Uhhhhh ... well …

Bicycle painted …
4”x4” experimental cobblestone street section constructed …
Dry-fitting hands-to-figures-to-bicycle-to-base assembly … terrifying …
Hilda and Crazy Ivan have their clothing base coats …
Continual figure painting anxieties … priceless!

I’ll try to post a photo update soon.

Alan, Those chaps look really great! Looking forward to seeing them situated in one of your masterpieces!
