Howdy Y'all
I'm starting to think I'll actually complete this campaign with my single German grenadier (Dragon). I've given up trying to put more than one decal on the panzerfaust. Next step will be to look it over closely for touch-ups and then flat coat. Hopefully I'll get this done and a photo posted by the deadline; I've got a business trip for the week.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

I finished my 1/16 "light" Sci-Fi soldier kitbash using Airborne Miniature's KSK figure and some spare parts I purchased from Airborne Miniatures. My digital camera isn't HD, hence the poor-quality photos...sorry.

Thanks for the extended deadline!

Great looking figs guys! Unfortunately for me, my home computer melted down this week, so I've not been able to make any updates nor will I finish the final details before today's deadline.
If there is another extension I'll git er done, otherwise thanks for a great opportunity to partake and see all the great work you guys have done. I've definitely improved my skills thanks to the inspiration/motivation of all involved here.

Finished the Dragon U.S Army Tank Rider. I'm having issues with my camera and lighting, so the figure is really not so shiny as the pics would suggest. The etched brass sling assembly is a mystery to me at the moment, so I didn't tackle it this time around.I learned a LOT on this figure,(with every mistake;) and the next one will be better!

Finished the 1/48 Tamiya German NCO. Man,this was tough, but still fun. Whatever process Tamiya uses to reduce it's 1/35 figures down to 1/48 causes weird proportional things to happen to the figures, which is one more significant challenge to trying to do a good job on such a small figure. I learned that ink washes should be watered down a bit on figures this size with shallow relief. The molded on collar runes were a mess, so I shaved them off, sanded, etc., and cut out new ones from the White portion of a 1/35 decal sheet from the spares box. Next time,I will try printing out a whole collar decal from the computer.

'Tug of War' update.

Hi guys, I got a lot of painting done but I've only scratched the surface as far as shading and highlighting fourteen figures. And I've got three more soldiers and three more civilians yet to paint. At this point, real life is looking like my blurry photos and I really need to give my eye a break from the Optivisor.

I'm fairly pleased with the many modifications, hair sculpting, added details, scratch-building, and the color palette. What's needed now ... minimal shading and highlights along with matte varnish. As far as the eye details, I don't think I'll be going there. For the purpose of this dio, I think some subtle shading will most likely suffice.

Here are fourteen of my twenty figures ... and of course, the bike.

Sorry to say, it doesn't look like I'll be finishing this campaign on time. However, I'll continue to plug away at the figures for my diorama build which will include the ruined building and cobblestone street groundwork in a separate blog somewhere down the road.

Regardless, I learned a lot and got to enjoy all of the very cool works you guys have submitted. Thanks again for sharing all the tips on making figure improvements. Best of all, this has been a really fun and entertaining campaign!

Thank you Johan!🍺

Due to my very busy time even in the weekend like now, if I post photos of my finished figures at.. for example 09.00 or 11.00 PM Indonesia time (and still at the date August 1, 2015).. is it still recognize that I completed the campaign? Many thanks

Cheers,

Garry

I just added a couple of more photos to the gallery. It's still August 1 over here in the great state of Colorado. Hope I'm not too late for the ribbon deadline. The eyes on my grenadier didn't turn out that great although the photo seems to look worse than it really looks according to my calibrated eyeball.

Take care,

Any chance of an "Improve Your Figures II" campaign? It was a great campaign to watch, learn and do. Thanks for a great idea and great campaign!

Hello guys, sorry for this -maybe stupid- question.. Am I allowed to perform further work to improve or fix the finished figures that included in this campaign? I feel a little bit unsatisfied at several spots, because I have a plan to used the finished figures into a diorama or vignette someday...

Sorry again guys for the question since I'm afraid for breaking fairness in this campaign, even finished, and the awarded ribbon may be canceled...

Thanks for the replies

Howdy Gary
I've never asked your question but as far as I know, there are no "Ribbon Police" after you have successfully completed a campaign. If you cannot improve a finished model on your own without losing a ribbon then I'd have to give half of mine back.
I often use my Campaign models to enter into our club contests and sometimes I have to do a little more work before I'm satisfied.
Maybe others have different views or opinions?
Take care,
Don "Lakota"
