Added the GPMG spotlight cable guard, and also added a few more missing details on the cupola ring. Frilled 1mm holes
and added 0.7mm nut heads to try and give the recessed look.
Didn't come out as well as I would of liked.
Next up is too add the screenwash jets for the commanders scopes and the wiper motor arms.
Enjoy

Looking really nice Dan. Is the clear vision block ring included in the kit?

Hi Sean,
It will get backed with a lightish colour and scope faces will get masked off, so hopefully it will look like armoured glass. last things to go on will be the PE wipers.
Cheers

Dan; Check your tracks, you have them reversed. The track link taper should face down. /

I wish more AFV kits would be released with this feature.

Both Challenger 1 and the later version of Chieftain had the L11A5 with the mirror housing and slimmer fume extractor. By early 1987 this was fitted to the 6s and 7s I examined at Catterick and only the few 1s the Training Regt had on strength had the original barrel.
Note that the Tamiya mirror housing is a bit off on shape, as the front should extend further forward and the angle of the rear reverse slope is too shallow. It has also been moulded solid whereas the curved part is a flat rubber sheet so it should be hollow from the rear.

Great work so far Sir.
With all that added detail around the commanders cupola and location I am surprised you haven't replaced the wiper motor housings with more accurate ones?
The rubber 'shroud' covering the MRS mirror (highly polished steel) could be replaced as well, not a big job but worth complimenting your amazing work so far.
Keep the updates coming.
Keith.

Thanks for the great comments chaps,
This afternoon I've drilled out the MRS housing and it's had a cleanup with a file
And looks a lot better, you'll only see it from behind but I know it's done, just need to further thin it down and fabricate the mirror assembly.
The cupola , I did think about replacing all the wiper motors but I think this is a real big job, I think the dims are out on the cupola ring on the kit and the whole thing would need to be remade possibly turning a new ring down on a lathe of which I don't have.
If anyone has any pictures of the MRS from any side and the rear showing the reflector that would be great, just so I can further refine my build.
Kind regards
Dan

Don't think I ever photographed the mirror but it is some way inside the shroud so without an endoscope I don't think you'd actually see it on a model.
Forgot to say what good work you were doing when I replied to another post in the thread. Details like this really bring armour to life.

Cheers Robert, I was going to add the reflector but if you reckon it's not visable then I'll skip it.
Cheers for the pointer
