Thank you chaps,

I have a few stowage bins ready for the build but just can't decide on which ones to use? The mesh basket that Tamiya provide in the kit just doesn't look right to me so I'll probably use a chieftain short bin and something else.

Just checked out your Iron Hammer builds Anto, really nice stuff and all done to a very high standard fella, I have a funny feeling that I was involved in few Iron Hammer exercises in my time , funny how the exercise names stay with you.
I can remember exercises like "Summer Sails" , "flying Falcon" and my favourite " Freezing Rhino"

One question, you mentioned the "donkey engine" where would the exhaust for this be located ?

Cheers

Made the call on the turret stowage, not sure if it's correct
but it's different from the kit parts.

Just a couple of old Chieftain bins.

Slave lead time. I've seen pictures of the slave leads
coiled up next to the drives hatch so I've run with that.

Straps need adding and it needs a bit more work to get it to sit right as these things were really heavy.

Cheers for now

Cheers Paul,

Its the Accurate Armour item, I think they came in a pack with the CVRT recovery ropes. This one was left over from my Spartan build, long enough cable to just pass for MBT slave lead .

Thank you chaps,

So I've added a bit more detail to the thermal gun cover clamps, removed the soft detail on the kit and used some carbon fibre to represent the clamp ends a bit better.

Just the webbing straps ends to add to the rest of the cover now.

Regards

Not much of an update as I had other stuff to do
today, but I managed to add a couple of recessed bolts to the
commanders hatch, these ate for the locking handles inside.

And finished off the gun clamps.

More tomorrow hopefully

Absolute cracking job Dan!!.Love the extra detailing you are putting into the Challenger.Im going to put the Romor armour on mine.Trouble is there arent any good references for the Mounting plates for the side armout. The Tankograd book i bought is great for turret etc details but not the extra armour added for Granby etc.
Keep the great work up from Richard

Thank you Richard,

The kagero photo sniper book on the challenger volume 2 has some great shots of the up armour package including the mounting system, might be worth investing in matey.

So the rear decks and the main armament gets more detail added, all from the Eduard PE set

Engine grills added and the lifting handles.

This small PE oval on the thermal cover, had to check ref material for this and its part of the strap that holds it on, so out with the green stuff again to blend it in with the kit part.

And the engine grills

Added the Aux Generator exhaust to the rear of the wagon, some evergreen rod and I made a flange

from punching out a 1.5mm dish out of a 2mm disk, took a few goes and it's not perfect but it's close enough for government work

Failed attempts

And a reasonable one fitted.

Cheers for looking

Hi Dan.Thanks for the heads up about the Kagero book on the Chally. Will get that book. All we need is for some model company to do an fv432 family.Father was on them in Germany when they first came out early 60s.
Cheers from Richard.

Cheers guys for the comments, should be able to get another update done over the weekend.

Paul, I'm using a RP Toolz punch and die set, they are top bits of kit which I would recommend to anyone.

Paul , I bought the hex punch and die set at Telford last year direct from them, I was so impressed I bought the circular one a few days later from Historex. Real quality bits of kit that should last years.

Back to the build and the main armament,
thermal cover straps added from the Eduard
PE set. These will get blended in using a drop of
Mr Surfacer.

Turret fire extinguisher added.

Enjoy folks and have a good weekend.

Small update on the build,

Split pins for the recovery/tow bar, slightly overscale but I couldn't make them any smaller.

More later chaps

Engine deck detail time, the moulded in handles
were removed carefully and plastic rod and strip added.

Cheers
