Dan, the Chally is looking very spot on, and thats speaking as an ex Chally crewman and commander... top work thus far.. i was on the original marks before introduction of external fuel tanks, and had moved onto CVRT striker by then but shes looking great... one point, the MRS, the mirror would of been visible, but only to Comd and loader when heads out of the turret, and the track tension, they were hideous cows to turn when running gear was cold, turning circle of an aircraft carrier !! so first thing and if left standing for lenghty periods, track would always be pretty slack, once wagon had been been moving and Hydra gas units had warmed up, track would self tension and be pretty tight... keep up the good work .. i am about to start the same model as your doing , but convert it back to my old C/S 42, to pre external fuel tanks... john

Thank you John,
it's great to get an endorsement from a guy who crewed the real thing, really chuffed you like the work so far fella. I'll be dropping a link or two from the tracks soon, As you can tell I'm not a fast builder and one thing that's in my favour is that the friul tracks stretch overtime, they were quite tight when first fitted.
Now they have stretched it should be safe to remove a link with out worrying about them saging further.
I only served on the small stuff, (AFV432) so any help on the bigger would be great, please shout out if you see something that's not right.
Keep the comments coming.

No probs, would be happy to help if able to , but i doubt i will be doing any shouts outs to correct you .. its a very very good rendering of one .. excellent detailing. When you have finished it, and if you are thinking of doing add on stowage, then generally, this was always, from my experience, down to individual crew preference, so from wagon to wagon, troop to troop, sqn to sqn, no two wagons would have to be the same. Add on stowage would usually be a chieftain long bin, full or cut in half, on the turret left side, or smaller chieftain back bins secured to side baskets... we even had cam nets secured around upper edge of turret at time ...john

Hi Dan,
I built a Chally two years ago based on ones used in 1988 exercise Iron Hammer, you are doing a fantastic job, I love the detail.... cant wait to see it painted and weathered. just a note on one or two things I noticed, there is an exhaust for the donkey engine on the rear, and the so called Ferret bin on the turret has a hinge and hasp on the lid. keep up the inspiring work....
