Looking good, but what about the Truck? I'm starting to feel sorry for it.....

This will turn out amazing Jerry.
You've outdone me with 29 figs and your still going.
Beside the fact yours are much better with painting and modifying .Wish you lived close,we could make a team effort with your figures and my building of vehicles and buildings.
Like our departed friend Romaine and his building partner.
Looking forward to your progress.

That would be a plan for sure. I don't mind building th vehicles but it just takes me so long as I always get bogged down in AMS.

Wow one doesn't realize how many you've actually done until the group shot! Very cool man. Didn't know about the Officer thing, but he came out perfect, you're really rolling now.
Sincerely

Fantastic work Jerry..., your completed dio will be well worth the effort you're putting in each & every figure so far. From the 1st to the......er 32nd, is consistently brilliant. Looking forward, along with everyone else here, to seeing how they all take their final place in their world, & how the story develops. A great skill isn't just to build & paint these guys, but to redesign & alter them for them to serve a specific purpose, & you've cracked that!
Love the 'lurkers' comment, very true......I'm sure they're all looking forward to seeing it progress too....
Simon.

Dave and Simon,
Thanks for the always appreciated words of support my good friends. The tally is getting up there, isn't it?
Here are numbers 32 and 33 coupled up with one I finished earlier. The putty is still not dry on his wrists though. Shamefully enlarged I am afraid.
I tried a new method again of painting, Not happy with the blending though. Hopefully Moms angst and the girls' fear came across though ?

Hi Jerry,
Been waiting for this trio. I believe these are destined to stand out as a main focal point in your overall creation. You do not disappoint!!!

Two Mikes !!
Thanks guys for the very nice comments. I am also thinking this trio will be the focal point of the dio. It tells a mini story in itself.
Here is another Preiser fig. She will be resting the right hand on the truck and saying goodbye to the family on the truck already. They may never see one another again so it is kinda dramatic. Some of these figs will make way more sense when they are finally in their places.
Started with this lady from the older set. Very "flakey" plastic and hard to work with.
Did a lot of under cutting. Since I wanted her to be resting her right hand on the side of the truck I needed a new hand. Also wanted her to be holding a hanky to her face with her left hand. I will use the hands from this young guy. He won't miss them as he's going back in the box.
Added the switched hands and cut a piece of brass wire to the correct length, then bent it to shape.
First app. of putty fills in the arm and adds the hanky.
Hopefully this describes the re-posing process a bit for some of you. I have done this before but new folks are always looking in. I don't always use the wire armature but take a short cut by just using a junky old plastic arm from an older fig.

So no one likes the old lady apparently. I will show her completed anyway.
Are you kidding me? ... I love the ol' gal!!! ... "Auf Wiedersehen, meine Lieben!"
And the rooftop guy looks really worried! "Wir sollten gehen!!!"
PS: I wish Romain was around to correct my German ...

Very nice work Jerry. The anguish on the mom and child really comes through. Incredibly well done. The lady and roof rider are awesome too. Can't wait to see it all together.

OMG Jerry. I take a few days off and wow! The trio with the little girl are superb. I really like the older lady and the roof rider as well. You may have mentioned it earlier, but what type of putty do you use? I've never tried anything like that. Do you sculpt the creases and folds before it dries or carve them out after?
Thanks
John

Paul and Zon,
Thanks guys,I am happy my efforts translated into the emotion for you. I get excited sometimes when I shouldn't be but maybe this time I succeeded. The Mom and kid are my favorite as well so far.

Thanks for the kind words John,
I use epoxysculpt for putty and do usually press folds into the putty while it is still pliable, using a damp knife blade or toothpick that is filed to certain shapes. I have also used plumber putty and have just got some Greenstuff putty as a very great modeler recommended it. I am going to test it soon.

Jerry
These last few figures are truly outstanding, very impressive!
I haven't been on here for awhile either, but wow. My reaction is the same as the others comments have been, these are beautiful Jerry. You have a real touch w/ the emotions.
I also like your use of the muted blues and grays.
Question: The faces of the Mother and her daughter (I presume) are stock? Really made the whole scene. Really enjoying the ride, thanks for this wonderful creation.
Sincerely
Dave

Very humbled by your excellent comments Dave.
The Mom was a re-posed fig from MB and her head was stock but I had to tidy it a little and the expression was mostly paint. The little daughter was MB from the Woman of WWII set but I carved the frowning/crying face on before enhancing with the paint. I had to give a downward turn to the corners of her mouth, for instance and some furrows between the eyebrows. A good thing to do is study cartoon drawings for basic expressions or google pictures of the emotion you want to show. Thanks again buddy.

Do no fear when no one immediately posts about the old woman! She is fantastic and very well done.
I still need some time to really start the figs for my project. I got the bamboo and maps which should complete all the physical. Found out the table saw works and finally got the chop saw out of storage... so I may not have the figures for the Nov. 5 show but the base dio will be ready. Then the figures and on to the next project. Will have pics to illustrate.
You are an inspiration to me, Jerry. Keep it up! Build an entire village! You are the master!
