Hello Jerry
Sorry for the late response. One of the consequences of the current situation is I have an inordinate amount of time on my hands, about twenty different projects on the go and little to no self discipline, so I've been flitting from one thing to another... anyway, nice reworking of the tool bow
Re the photos you mentioned, the building behined the Lehr PzIV is still there, albeit delapidated somewhat. I did a "then and now" a while back, it's between St Lô and Pont Hebert.
The buildings in Fontenay le Pesnel are almost all gone, so no colour match possible.
With regards the roof.... HP's photos of clay tiles are spot on for the "Pays d'Auge" area and nearby, so south east/south-east of Falaise. Slate (as you've gone for) is perfect for Caen and westwards. Both the buildings you mentioned as inspiration would have had slate roofs, the only difference being the stone for the walls (granite versus limestone).
Cheers
Sean
Thanks Sean,no worries. I haven't spent as much time at the bench lately as the current news makes it hard to concentrate for me. No fear or panic here, just overwhelmed by the implications of political and historical possibilities in play. Being a student of history makes me worry about these things and my career in "first response" military units exacerbates it. Times of worldwide turmoil can result in very bad things happening as it gives an opening to bad characters. They are always lurking in the periphery, waiting for this kind of chance.
Anyway,I used the house with the Lehr tank for the stone arches over the door and some windows. I didn't copy them exactly but I did like the arches so they got in there. The bulk of the houses design came from the Fonteney building. But,again, not an exact copy either.
Thanks for checking in man !

Thanks yes, those are the exact houses. The colors are always so hard to nail down. The issue is,when viewed at a distance is the color of the stone is affected by the color of the mortar and thus alters the overall color. I figured from the pics "my" house has most of the mortar worn away and so went with that.I did get the shape of the dormer roofs wrong though. Oh well.

Dark side of the house,
I wanted to use my new molds to make plaster tiles but the tiles are way out of scale. More like for a 1/24 scale house. Huge. But I will use the ridge tile set. They look OK. This still has much work left. Very tedious cutting all those suckers,I must say. It does take ones' mind off of things though,

Now I think that Brigitte is going to get angry as soon as she turns around the corner. You'd better hire a handyman before she realizes.

Really great update Jerry, I have been wondering how you and yours have been getting along the last while. I so look forward to seeing your latest effort on here and it is always worth the wait. Have you started any figures other than Brigette?? You usually always have a few Frankensteins on the go for an upcoming project. Take care of yourself Jerry and again, it is great to hear you are still beavering away on your current project. Could you please not make us lurkers wait so long for your next update? I think I was suffering eye candy withdrawal since your last post. Thanks again buddy for checking in. Best regards..........Dale

Thanks for the extremely kind words there buddy!
Yes,well the lady was just being used for scale effect. A pawn in the ongoing saga of dioramic life,as it were.
This work here is tedious so it goes slowly and in small chunks otherwise it would be placed on the shelf of doom.
But I am still plugging away and have most of the figs finished for the next episode.
I also began a side project as is my habit. All is well here as I hope it is with you and yours ?

Just now dialing in. Outstanding work, Jerry. Your sculpting of the stone walls is simply astonishing, exceeded only by your painting and finishing of them.
