you are a 17 year old defending your position all morning under intense pressure with what is left of your platoon.
Then THIS shows up. What do you do ??

Probably fill up my undies with something rather unpleasant, so they will know for sure where you're hidden... Just follow the wiff

Mike-thanks,as always for the very generous remarks buddy!
G- Thanks again man,I appreciate the comments. The tie downs were from lead foil from an old wine bottle seal. The newer seals are not as nice because of the elimination of lead in their make-up. Some hobby outlets still sell small sheets of thin lead foil however. You will have to search it out because I don't recall off hand which ones, sorry.

I think I agree!
We underwent anti-tank training in Infantry school and had a M60 drive over our foxhole. It was like the earth was alive with rumbling vibrations and thundering sound with exhaust fumes filling the air. Not very confidence inspiring for sure.
And we had the luxury of a concrete hole!

I posted this WIP not to show off any rudimentary painting skills but to highlight what a great job Resicast did in sculpting/molding this British Type 18 radio set. I snapped this shot before I glued on the canvas anti-glare shroud that will make the detail harder to see.
Additional kudos to all the human mules that had the job of carrying these beasts in the field. Hopefully it wasn't for long periods! Ouch!
Every Plt Sgt in the 82nd Abn was tasked with jumping with a PRC77 radio and the separate encryption unit during all airborne ops and as much as it made my back hurt I can just imagine how these WWII guys felt with that sack of pounds.

Anyway,thanks Resicast.

Yep,there is an aerial but I won't put that on till it is finished. Why repair it 20 times? I still have to install the shroud, finish painting and touching up,put scrim on his noggin and a sling on his 303.,etc etc.

Hi Jerry,

Your Churchill is looking good, would it be possible to have a picture of the tank commander from a slightly higher angle, so we can see him in detail?

The radio operator/radio is a work of art, brilliant paint job, .

Cheers, ,

Thanks Gents, for the comments and thanks lurkers, for looking.
I will try to get pics later of the TC but he is not that remarkable really. Stock Miniart torso and head. Tamiya goggles.

Meanwhile the cast of characters for the next episode of "Epsom" has been roughed out. Rado figure with the head turned to the side and engineer kit added with putty. Royal Models hands and Miniart shaped charge. I need to make the hand conform to the charge more. When the putty is dry I will smooth things out, tighten it up and add straps and such. Engineer gear in front includes left pouch(shown empty) for demo charges with detonators in the small pockets on its' side. The right pouch was for the gas mask. In back the 3 space canvas carrier had the mess kit on top, small demo charges in middle and large assault demo charge at bottom. The large pioneer spade carrier is shown in the left, without the spade.

Hope you are all having a brilliant day!
J

This ep’s getting PHSSSST-hot! When that guy’s freed from his moorings & pitched forwards he’ll look awesome, when you take final photos he almost deserves to be blurred as in motion but then we’d miss the great details

Hi Jerry,

Another well animated figure, you have really conveyed an air of nervous cautiousness about his actions.

Is the 'putty' you use 'milliput', or another product?

You assign to me talents with the photoshop I can only dream of! LoL
I finally wised up and kept him attached to the mold gate si I wouldn't rub the paint off like I do when I paint almost all my figs. Just too impatient to use a clamp or something. Idiot that I am.

Love the SS pionere Jerry! The side pockets on the engineers pouches were actually for rifle clips as you couldn't wear ammo pouches with this kit. Likewise love the radio operator, but they were issued with Stens rather than rifles due to the weight of the set. Even as late as the 70s radio operators got SMGs rather than rifles. However if he got hit no doubt the next rifleman would pick it up or be "volunteered" by an NCO!
The operator was something of a specialist in infantry battalions and wore a trade badge of a red circle with six light khaki lightning bolts coming out, three to each side, the whole on a khaki patch worn on the upper arm.

Thanks for the clarification on the engineer pouches. New to me. As far as the radio guy goes,I just painted that right out of the Resicast box so...It was molded on and would be a pain to reconfigure.
But I can remember that for the future as I plan to scratch one of the smaller radio sets later.
The qual. patch I can handle as I make the final tweeks painting the fella. Thanks for the input mate!
