Ill post this in here rather than in my ASLAV-25 blog as its a bit more relevent to our previous conversations.
Just finished the packs from the Legend Stryker stowage set. I think the DPDU came out quite well. Just needs a wash and they are done.
I used Tamiya and Gunze Sangyo Acrylics.
DPDU (Desert Pattern Disruptive Uniform) is 5 colors.
Color 1 - (Base coat)(Tan) 90% white, 10% H321 Light Brown
Color 2 - (Light Green) 80% white, 20% XF51 Khaki Drab
Color 3 - (Light Gray) 70% White, 30% XF53 Neutral Gray
Color 4 - (Mid Brown) 60% White, 40% XF10 Flat Brown
Color 5- (Pinkish Gray) 70% White, 25% XF53 Neutral Gray, 5% H23 Shine Red
The straps are H321 Light Brown.
All percentages are approx...

No mate I didnt modify them as they are excellent as is. I was going to remove the ET tool as it is not realistically something that crew would put on their pack, but i didnt have anything to put in its place.

I should add. they are not 100% accurate as Australian Packs as they are a US design i think. But they do the job. Like i said earlier, Aussies use lots of aftermarket gear anyway. But they are cast brilliantly and the detail is much better than anything else i have.
Off topic, but another good thing about the Legend set, it contains some nice 25mm liners (minus decals) and this great open MRE box as well.

First coat, not sure about the green. I first shot (Tamiya all) Olive Green and Flesh but over painted that with Nato Green and flesh. Now I added a small amount of Dark Yellow to the Nato Green and Flesh mixture and I might repaint again.
On the right side you can see where I chopped off the attachment points and replaced them again in their correct locations.
Regards
Bill

I think it is dark enough but the actual colour should be more yellow I think, it is so dependent on the reference photo though. If you look at the last few posts where I posted both 25's and APC's I colour corrected the images as they were way too saturated. Even now you can see the green is not bluish green but more yellow green, at least in the photos.
You guys down there will know better though cause you can see the beast in the flesh.
Once I get to weathering it you won't see much of the colour anyway but I'd like to get it as right as I can.
Any movement on yours?
Regards
Bill

Bill I'm waiting on a few bits from the Phase III MH kit (hatches etc).
Hopefully it's not too far away.
I'm building a couple of Leopard 2's ATM.

I am anxiously waiting on the MH 25 Phase III conversion. I have bought a Leo as well so I keep an eye on your project from time to time.
Jason thanks for the encouragement. Any thoughts on the green colour? It is the same as David Jenkins used on his M1A1 Australian.

Now for the decals.
Thanks for looking

Bill, I think it needs to be more of an olive colour to my eyes. You could try post shading the green with the said olive and see how it comes out? But if you mank the car up with a heap of dust and mud etc the green will just about vanish anyway.
Cheers Jason

Thanks for the quick response. I have been sitting in front of the model mixing greens for the better part of the day and I think you are right. The Tankograd book clearly show the olive colour peeking through the dust. I'm going to give her another shot of olive over what I have to see what happens.
Again thanks.
Bill
Edit
Thanks for the heads up about the Mouse House ASLAV 25 Phase III conversion for the Trump kit, I just bought one along with a few other bits and pieces. Any production photos we could post here?

It's not clear Bill, but have you added PE mesh to the engine deck grills ?

Ray
I use a Passche double action airbrush and changed out the tip and needle to a #1. I then outlined the colour area free hand at lower pressure and then fill in the area with the action opened up. After it is all done I done back with paper cut in different shaped to tighten up the edges. When the three colours were done I went back again to sharpen the edges with my paper scraps as templates. There is way too much PE to use Blue Tack or tape mask. I have since re painted the green but have to wait to get to my HS to pick up some Tamiya yellow to add to my Olive/Flesh mixture, the green is very olive yellow.
Paul yes I made my own grills with some Accurate Armour mesh that I had and it worked perfectly. Made a template with paper then used my small chisel to cut them out of the mesh. I need to put the lift rings on next.
I'll post more pics when I get the colour right. Now I'm off to make Maple Leaf Models stretcher and the AFV tow bar I robbed from my Stryker kit.
Thanks for asking

Correct. Al Muthanna Task Group 1, 2005.
Vehicle names (if they have one) start with the letter of the Squadron the vehicle is attached to.
A for ASQN, B for BSQN, C for CSQN, R for Regiment HQ, S for Support Squadron. Only Exception is the CO's vehicle which is traditionally called the regimental motto. In this case, COURAGE, which is also the vehicle depicted on the Echelon ASLAV Decal Sheet
