Thanks for sorting that out. I also noticed that the one I zoomed in on is also a Fitter, didn't notice the smoke poppers at the sides before.
That Gelly looks fairly frozen.

Your up late Bill?
To model this type you will need to scratch build a new cradle for the 40mm and add it to the AFV Club Kongsburg.

I've got to stay up late to get to talk to the Aussie's ;o)
By the cradle you mean where the actual 40 attaches to the rest of the Kogsberg? Is the 40 that much wider that you can't just mix and match?

Your not anywhere near the fires are you?
Here is a better shot of the cadle.
It is wider (the gun) and the mounting pins are in diferent places.

Sorry about the water mark on the photo's. A couple of photo's of mine have ended up on ebay attached to seller items.

Thankfully I live on the other side of the country, tragic fires, I'm sure you know all about fires.
Nice shots of the 40mm. So the only thing on the set up that changes is as you say the width of the cradle and the pins, same ammo can everything else?
Nice to have this thread dusted off, there is still more to the Aussie ASLAV story isn't there?

Good to hear your jnot anywhere near them. Sad however.
Thats about it for the 40mm. Same ammo bins ect. The 40mm will need a firing solenoid added (cylindrical looking thing at the bottom rear of the gun).
Your right there is a lot to go on this topic.

Cheers Jason

There wasn't a solenoid on the the AFV RWS 50 either, I had to scratch mine on the ASLAV PC.
Sam I bet you'd make an excellent APC, have you painted your 25 yet?

HI Bill,

Yes a PC is on the way at some point I think. Im starting to get a list of bits together that i'll need, and have started looking for a vehicle to model.

No paint on the gun car at this stage - im trying to get some stowage together, amongst other things I'll post progress shots when I do though!

Thanks Jason for the clarifcation on the RWS w/ 40mm. I guess to model it I will have to use the Kongsberg mount and maybe build the APC as the one on the cover of Military Briefs #4 ASLAV.
Sam, I see you've noticed the APC w/ 40mm grenade launcher, It really caught my eye as well. What stowage are you kitting out your gun car with and where did you acuire it?
Bill, you keep odd hours as I do. I figured you must be a shift worker as well.
Cheers, Jeff.

HI Jeff,

Sadly most of my stowage will be scratchbuilt I think.. Its not too heavily stowed, but theres enough there to give me grey hair working out how to get it right.

some great work here lads, very nice insperation, im slowly getting my MH parts together to attempt a aslav PC or command version, bought the maf 801 and 802 kits, some weapons, ration boxes, storage containers, decals etc, mainly just "storage fillers" my wish list for acual conversion parts is at around $250 now haha

One question, not really an aslav question, but can anyone recommend wha colors you use for auscam uniforms? im taking part in the historica sniper campaing and cant quite get my colour matching right,

If you use tamiya etc please post i can convert them

Keep up the great work lads, again, very very impressed with your builds

Did I hear a rumour about some one making a Fitters and Recovery version of the ASLAV?
Nice shot of a Fitters in Afghanistan from

Fitters and Recovery? Now that would be nice!

I've just started work on an a PC, and would love to do a fitters one too at some point.

most bits (i.e engine deck, RWS, wheels etc) are just trial fitted at this stage, which is why there are gaps here and there still, and why its lifted a wheel in a couple of shots.

That is a fine looking build, very clean. I especially like the wheels nice weight to them, are these Jason Millers? My only critical comment is the layout of the attachment points on the right hand side forward on the box.

Perhaps there are many configurations of this pattern?
I look forward to your progress, I hope you'll post often.

Thanks Bill!

The attachment points marked 2 and 3 in your attached pic? All I did was replace the ones that were there - it never occured to me that they were slightly out of alignment. Its an easy fix, thanks for the heads up!

Sorry, the arrows are from an earlier situation when I was Identifying things that were not on the Mouse House conversion. #2 are the tie downs as are 1,2 and 4 all tie down points. On my resin block there were air bubbles under each mounting point so I ended up replacing a few and that's when Jason Miller sent me the photo to help me out. Mouse House thought they'd fix this issue when they wore out the first mold, like you say though an easy fix.

Sam's ASLAV have evolved a lot since he last posted here. Beautiful figures and very accurate fitting this is a stunning build.
It must have been a chore burrowing through all that resin to open the air guard hatches!

I was going to say that it is too bad Sam didn't post more progress shots here but by the lack of interest to his last posting I don't blame him for going to Missing Lynx.
Excellent work Sam

Thanks Bill!

I didnt NOT post here on purpose, I promise!

My PC kit came with the air guard hatches opened, Jason has rejigged the master somewhat.

Ah ha, very nice of him. The hatches then, did they come as separate items to facilitate having them open or closed? Was the large rear hatch opened as well? I must say seeing your build makes me want to build an Iraq version like yours but I have a ASLAV 25 to tackle yet. Very nice build.

Yep, the air guard hatches are separate items, but infortunately the cargo hatch is still integral to the hull casting.

You should do an Iraq car, theyre fun, what with all that stuff hanging off the front

Exactly, and now with these figures, weighted tires and a few PE sets things are getting down right civilized. Which PE are you using on this car?

I'm home for 3 months starting May 17th so you know what that means! Hopefully I'll get the same results you have above.
