Hi Gary,
I noticed that you painted the transmissioncover (the hump between the seats) in leather, too. However it actually is metal, so should have the interiorcolour, too.

The lever, wiring and other details are very well done. A real eye for detail!

Alright, how did you paint those details on the dash?

Hey Jesse,

The radio and dash panel were both detail painted with Vallejo model color. I used a silver Prismacolor pencil to highlight the little black gauges neddle and marks.

Thanks Matthew!

Gary

Hi Gentelmen,

Im Ready to glue the top on. I repainted what i thought was a center console cushion to the proper interior color as it is a cover. I also finished cleaning off the fenders of the moulded on parts and added some chipping. Here it is before i glue the top on.

Updates later tonight...maybe.

Gary, I had this kit back when I was a kid (and the kit was probably new), and couldn't get past the wheel track assemblage; so I will have to live through you. You are doing an amazing job. Don't know if were planning on adding other figures, but Masterbox and Tristar do figure sets that should work to replace the sub par Tamiya ones.

Hi Gentlemen,

Phil - abstinent, i like that word better than saying im in a serious dry spell!

John - I doesnt take but one brain fart from me to get things jumping in the wrong direction.

Matthew - Thanks for the links man. I really like the MB set you shown me. I relly like the second one excluding the camel.

Jeff S. - I did it again didnt i. Please dont tell on me,
I washed my own mouth out with soap (antibacterial) and said my prayers last night. The lacquer thinner fumes got to me...maybe.

HEY! I got the top glued to the bottom. WHOOHOO!!!

Thanks fellas.

Gary I've seen this kit at my local hobby shop over the past months, and after seeing your build log I'm pretty motivated to go and get it

Hi Conor,

Im always happy when ones inspired to get a kit that they have watched me build. Its a fun kit and it feels like im restoring an antique. I does need some work to make it look...ummm...not so toyish. Thanks Conor!

Just curious Gary, How'd you glue that top on without getting glue on that nice interior you painted?

Nice job restoring an antique!

Hi Paul,

I try to be careful when i glued it but i really wont know if there is any damage to the interior paint until i take the masking off. I sure hope not. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Yes, it was Jeff. But i was carefull. I tried more of a capilary action instead of directly slopping it on. Oh man, im getting nervous about it now.
