Gary, I'll just say this once for I don't want to appear to be bias.

I just cannot believe the Panther received no love or respect at the show. But, I guess that why I don't like contests, will never want to submit to a contest nor will I have any that is worthy to be judged in a contest. But the others that you received something for really had nothing on that Panther, but I bet it's just what the judges felt THEY liked. Your Panther is one of the best looking projects on the Panther Campaign so I'm still scratching my head here, while working on my own right now.

Save it (your Panther) for the next one and I bet you take it all home! But I'm sure you're not hurting but it is puzzling all the same.

Oh well, back to the 250!

Some really nice work there Gary, love how the T-62 turned out with base and all. Were there alot of models at the show? Wish I could have made it there, but there is always nest year. I got my T-90 from a dealer in china pretty close to what you paid for yours. Can't wait to see you start building yours.

The 250/3 is turning out to be a little gem. Not really big on german armor, but I have always like the smaller half tracks. Keep up the good work

Hi Gentlemen,

Jeff S. - I really thank you for your support. Each Show has different judges that may look at the same model and see it 2 completely different ways. I entered the Panther in the Camo all eras catagory. When i sat my Panther on the table in that section it stuck out like a sore thumb, in a good way i thought. Pictures dont do it justice. The colors looked awesome under the lighting there. But i didnt weather it with mud and dust and chipping as i normally do. Being a camo catagory i was sure that it would do well. I think it was too clean for their taste. It almost looked too sporty and cool looking i think. I dont know. Im still gonna show it in the next 2 shows i do this year. Anyways, like you said, Back to the GREIF!

Christopher - Thanks bro, i think the base helped alot for the T-62. Yeah i wish you could have been there too. There were 327 models for 170 somthing registered people and the vendors section was AWESOME!!! I will say this, had you showed up with that T-62 diorama of yours, you would have raked in the awards bro. IMO! It will be a long wait for the T-90. I have some other projects to do befor next year. Hope we can trade notes on the T-90. I am impressed at how nice that kit is. Thanks again Chris.

Just take that cat outside and get her dirty for the next set of shows.

I'm sure it will 'take them home' after that! My hat goes off to those who enter them as they are important to a certain extent. I would never do well at one but my opinion is not important. It's more admiration than envy!

Well, keep up the great work Gary and to all others who support these contests!

John - Thanks my friend! Yeah, im pretty happy about getting the T-90. Probably saved a little cash by not haveing to pay shipping charges.

Jeff S. - I have my Black Lab puppy in the back yard playing with the Panther right now. It should be ready for the next show by this evening.
Jeff, the shows are more about haveing fun and meeting people. I meet a fellow armorama member there and saw some really sweet works there, and the shopping is awesome.

What colours did you use for the rifles ? and how will you weather them ?

I hate painting the equipment...

Hello John,

the rifles were primed then painted with Vallejo Panzer Aces Old Wood. I painted the black and when thats dry i got a sharpened brown color pencil and drew some wood grain on. I then thinly painted over that with burnt sienna oil paint. The oil paint has been drying for 4 or 5 days. Before i seal it ill very gently rub the rifles with a Q-tip to reveal a bit more wood grain and then ill seal it with flat clear. when dry ill use graphite and silver color pencil to make it look more metallic. I hope that helps, and made sense.

Man ... are we gonna see some paint on this thing or what?

I mean, this is 8 pages long and at least you would think we would see some signs of color besides the molded styrene!

Gesh!

One more picture of it without paint and I'm gonna scream!

(jest skiddin') Actually it's shaping up to be one of the best looking 250's I've seen.

Gary does show a good presentation here on his builds. I just like to give him a bit of a hard time only, and ONLY because he knows it's been made in jest. His photos, and all of his step-by-step posts have been carefully planned out so that they actually make sense.

There are many here that have the same MO and qualities but since he and I have mixed it up in the Panther Campaign I feel more comfortable messin' with him ... once in a while.

More than likely I will become a Gary someday. I'm working the better half for a sweeter camera and I must get my paint booth built, for I do have an AB and compressor sitting for many years, under wrap getting dusty!

So Gary, paint the SOB!!! Please!

(okay, now back to the bench)

Hi all,

After looking at some reference pics i decided the muffler cover needed more attention so i added some brass sheet to the top and will touch up the edge with 3M spot putty. Im also replaceing the kit jerry cans and frame work.

Thanks for looking.

Hey Phil,

Thanks man! The 3M spot putty is used in automotive finishing. I use it to fill in small shallow areas that need attention. It dries fast and a tube will last a very long time. heres a pic.

For bigger jobs ill use Squadron white putty and after sandin that ill smooth it over with 3M putty and use a finer grit 320 or 400. You can see the redish arear where ive used it on the Greif.
