Emanuel ,,I have some news to enlighten you a bit ..the Kugelblitz was no paper panzer ..its is very real ...the turret of one can be seen at the Royal Military College of Science in Shrivenham, England.
There is also pics of the remains of a turret leaning against a tree and here is a link showing it .

Phill,
You might want to give a shout to Tatbaqui. He's doing a Kugelblitz for the What the Flak? campaign. Maybe you guys can compare notes.

Pardon the ignorance here as I've never joined a campaign before. Is it too late to join in on this one?

You can always join a campaign at any time during the course of its operation so to answer your question no you can still join

Sweet. Thanks. I've enlisted. Now I just need to finish up my current projects and figure out which Pz IV kit I want to use.

John,
I'm no expert, but that looks like a Pz III chassis to me even though the instructions clearly indicate it is a IV. Can someome educate me on how to properly distinguish the two?

Mark,
It's a shortened Panzer IV chassis.

Cheers Rob.

Pretty simple...
6 Roadweels per side, torsion bars -> Pz III E or later (until D they are a bit different)
8 Roadweels in pairs of two on leaf springs -> Pz IV

Fabian,
Thanks. The wheel count is what I was looking at, and hadn't thought about the leafs springs vs. torsion bars, but now that you point it out it seems obvious. Between your response and Rob's I think I get it now.

This is such an informative network!

Oh well as luck would have it there is not a single cheap Panzer IV kit out there right now and i aint paying $60 to tear one to bits but luckily enough i have about 20 on them in different states of disrepair in my spares pile so i am going to use a band new but built Tamiya IV chassis which i scored with a large pile of other tanks in a auction .
Pics to follow .

I'm going to try and complete this, Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.F2(G) OOB. I've let two campaigns slip this year due to work, so I hope this one goes a bit better!

30 wheels later...
If counted by single tires - much more. All undecarriage is working, dryfitted as it needs some PE's I'm waiting for. Hull is closed too. On the right side, fans from engine cooling system (inlet). Nice, but it will be not visible later. Detail level is very eye pleasing.

In the above photo one can see cover of the hand driven engine starter (between middle bogeys) It shall be higher and more forward. I'm still thinking if to shift it or leave it.

Here is small hint. ryfitting of the top hull pieces gives smooth transition in the place marked red in photo below.

There shall be a "step" there. I have seen some builds with this place flush or corrected with adding of some styrene. Hint is to glue top part (where gun sits) first. Then slide in the floor of the combat compartment. You will have required step without any effort.

Now it is time for small corrections and adding some welding lines.

@ shorty53, I love the classic lines of the un-skirted Panzer IV's. I'll be following yours closely.

I'm debating on what to do for mine. Turns out, since variants are allowed, I have quite a few kits that might fit the bill. Any suggestions? Options are:

Panzer IV H late
Jagdpanzer IV L/70 (V)
Nashorn
StuG IV

They're all modern Dragon kits. What do you think?
