Jim - the truckbed is looking good and the gun is very detailed-looking at least for all those little parts you had to suffer through.
Steven - Glad to see you here in the campaign. Look forward to the halftrack build.
Jeff- good question
Greg... Is that code for you don't know?

Marc - I like the trailer and what's sitting on top of it! Some dusty weathering will make it look well traveled
Jeff - that's a 10-4

I got a set of weapons to put on my 'copter:
Just trying to "spruce it up" some with a modern look. The bombs it came with are just some boring tear drop shapes that once again I have to sand on, so I went looking and found these.
While the paint is curing these should be the ticket.
There's even a few gun pods in the set ... might have to disable the original layout of guns and hang one of these? That's why I love flat finishes, you can always modify it after some paint's been layed down.
I now know why I don't do aircraft anymore ... taping off the cockpit is a
!
Maybe I'll show a few pics of the paint?

Evenin gentlemen!
Well now since my school is finally winding down I've had a choance to catch up with this campaign and see through all the 25(!) paes so far. And what a great campaign it has been so far! Lots of great builds! Can.t wait to see the feature...
So yesterday I got myself the Tamiya Jeep so I can join with something small. It will eventually go on a dio with something larger but not for this campaign.
Cheers!

Since they ALL look rather menacing, it seems Pete is right. That should be one heavy loaded copter!

The wing area is rather small and the original bombs would have been crowded to say the least. I'm thinking a few "small bombs", air-to-air missiles and a gun pod under the nose ... replacing the two gun placements already there.
I'll still have to glue these together, it's just that the plastic will be easier to work with and less of a seam than the AURORA parts.
White missiles will be the ticket! He, he, he!
I just knew I couldn't leave well enough alone.

Jeff T. - trying to be back. Life is making it tough though!
I don't have an answer for your jerry can question either. What you might consider is measure one in 1/35th, multiply it by 35, then divide by 48 and compare the measurement to the two items.
Marc: Nice looking trailer. Did you hairspray it?
Jeff S. great weapons collection!! Maybe some upper wings to add to the menacingness.
Stefan: welcome again!! It's a good little jeep.
Happy Modeling, -zon

Nah, I'm not overloading it.
Just swapping out one-for-one bombs, taking out the 2 gun emplacements for a gun-pod and then the only addition would be the missiles ... or just install ALL missiles, air-to-air or air-to-surface missiles and forget the bombs.
Which the later sounds better anyway. They do not weigh much at all.

Nearly there. Keep bustin off one one of the undercarriage doors though. The glazing isn't attached properly yet, and a few other wee touch ups needed. Unfortunately the side windows have some flaws as they spent some time in contact with a cement floor, and I didn't notice they were missing for ages. I think there may have been beer taken at the time!
Well it's definitely a learning process. Whether I learn from my mistakes is another one!
The seatbelts are Lionroar Luftwaffe PE!! Sorry! All I had, and the first time ever using PE. Next time I will get them into place earlier in the build.

Worked on the Mk XV Seafire some more and got most of the sub-assemblies on the airplane. Drilled out the exhaust stubs on that lovely Rolls Royce Griffon too!!! As is usually the case with most razor-backs, I think the kit canopy hood maybe too narrow to fit over the spine so there maybe a vacu-form replacement on the horizon. All-in-all a nice kit from Special Hobby thus far.
Pete----great looking Mustang.
Jim---Love how the "Technical" is coming along and a really imaginative subject.
Jeff--Good work on the Cobra. Like the different colored helmets on the crew figures. Adds color and also realistic, especially for that era.
Regards,
Ian

Pete! Nice work on the belts and the canopy bud! I was just going to use a Sharpie to outline the needed areas, since it was black anyway.
And Ian ... may man!
How/what's your secret on those panel lines? Those are awesome and I would like to know the way to have them turn out like yours.
I have an idea, but yours looks like you've been doing it for a while.

Stefan!!!! Glad you're ready for action
That was a great idea to do this campaign again. I've seen some nicely geared and weathered jeeps out there, so enjoy that little guy.

Stephan--I'm in the same boat as you. I just got out of school and will only have a few days of quality build time. Fortunately, I got some work done on my entry earlier in the year
Enjoy your build! I find that the small builds are often the most relaxing and enjoyable ones anyway.

Anyway, got some of the tools and stowage dry fitted to see what it looked like
I ended up using the smaller Jerry cans, the larger ones just did not look good.Model on,Jeff T.

Greg and Jeff S.---the panel lines are done with a Micron Ink Pen which is available at most art stores. I use a .005 diameter pen most of the time. If I want heavier panel lines or if I am building a bigger scale airplane I will us a .01 or .02 diameter. Very easy to use and if you make a mistake you can remove the ink with a Q-tip and some water or alcohol. Also, if I have lost any panel lines during sanding I will make a thin "ruler" with stacked strips of 3M #2090 tape and just redraw the line with my pen. I never have had much success with washes for panel lines and have found the pen is much easier to control and really does well accenting panel lines. There are also different colors available in the Micron line. I have used the Dk Brown pen on some desert schemes. May not be the best way or the worst way-----just A way.
Jeff T.-----Glad to see you are back with the Puma. It's lookin' good.

Did a little more work on the gun truck, although I don't think it will stand a chance against Jeff's copter once it is fully armed. I painted the base coat on the gun and mount. I attached the axles and wheel hubs. I am now starting to detail and weather the cab.

Thanks Ian for the secret on panel lines. Very convincing and I will get me a few of those pens when I visit Hobby Lobby this weekend.
I do have ONE progress report, a picture of the 'Copter in the green I selected:
A friend of mine is going to give me a Lindberg kit of the same bird, same scale so I can use the decals from it. The AURORA kit's decal is plain-jane and the lettering is in black and this green is pretty dark PLUS, it has a Tiger Face I wanted to paint on, so this will save some time too.
I can practise tinting the other kits canopy to see how much I can mess it up!
