Quoted Text

That gave me an idea to take it a bit more seriously, and a small company with 1/35 railway kits and accesories should be launched on October, if everything goes well

Good luck with this Libor. Hopefully it goes well for you. Looking at the items that you scratched and cast over the last few years, it would be the company to buy from when one is upgrading these models. The parts really do look the part.
Will you focus on the railway side of 1/35 modelling? Might be a niche thats not already exploited by others.
I have contacted you via PM about the water tower.

Now this is what I call "serious modelling" in every sense of the phrase.

That amount of detail is just frightening. Scary. Jaw-dropping. Unreal.

In that series of 3 interior photos on the previous page, I'd challenge **anyone** looking at those pics in isolation NOT to be fooled into thinking they were looking at the real thing.

My gast is well & truly flabbered.

Thank you Frank (PM returned) and Steve for your kind words. Hope some interesting railway stuff will come along here shortly

Another progress done, both sides are cleaned and some basic lines drawn down. Exact proportions I will read on milling machine during my work on it. Some work done on short parts (when finished, they will be glued together with longer pieces) and also bearing slots get shaped.

And here finished frame sides. Some rivets and nuts to be added before bearings assembly, and I also have to make some other parts to get main frame done

Well, ist been a while. I have finished moulds for parts needed to complete axles, grease boxes for bearing housings and some other. I will add WIP pictures soon. Then I was working on brakes. My BR86 has two different ones, double brakes between the drive wheels, and single brakes from outsides. Also brake holders in the kit were useless. I have finished most of the parts needed to make moulds. Once again, obtained castings will be reworked to create the final parts. At this stage I also made new lamps, because those from the kit look very funny. Still a few details to be added. More pics to follow

Back soon

Here masters for first pieces, which will be after some more work on them used to make final parts. All these still need some polish. Kit pieces on the side - just to compare differencies.

Simply amazing. Very awe-inspiring build. The amount of corrected scratchbuilt detail really brings the train to life. Can't wait to see the finished kti. Keep up the good work.

Nicely done Libor!
Once finished, there won't be much Trumpeter left, I guess

What would you use to make those electricitycables for the lamps?

We'll keep in touch!

Thank you Matt for your kind words.
Thank you Jan - I have to agree
For this wiring, I was thinking to use lead wire, which I want to roll and cut it in carefuly with a few modelling knife blades held together one next to other. But I have to try it first
I have just small update for tonight, a lamp. The bulb is different from museum loco above, in old pictures I found mostly short, thicker one used. I will do my moulds tonight and tomorrow I should have more things to show - before that, these pieces still need to be cleaned and polished. Well, and kit lamp to compare

Hmmm... lead wire... interesting!
I used a guitar string - that is, a piece of it - for the lamps on my BR52. It turned out a hell of a job to bend it in the curves I wanted. But it looks okay.

Nice lamp by the way!

Hi Jan, thank you. That is another good idea, if that wont work by my way
Now worked with castings, more details added and completed left and right sides of brake arms - they will make a final mould.

Also other castings obtained - grease injectors for cylinders and whole lot to finish axles and assembly of the frame. At the end - finished lamp.

Bearing housing fitted in frame sides, cast pieces glued in plastic tobe to make up the axles. All seems to be all right, I will continue with small grease boxes and brackets.

Continued with brakes. All the moulds are to be cured, in between I have put together single brake - there are 4 mounted on this loco, with 6 double brakes.

Continued with double brakes, some pictures from assembly. For right side the master used in pictures, castings should be ready tomorrow. Then I will add missing spacer for right brake block.

How much of the kit do you expect to cast in resin?

For this one - most is done. Some small parts later, steam heating and some other valves, probably some of driving rods and brake mechanism - not sure yet about cylinders, maybe parts, maybe whole things. Generally I do just parts I need different from early loco, which the kit more and less is - and mainly parts missing, wrong or simplified in the box. Usually I describe the reasons for doing this or that in my topic

And here completed castings, brake holders, grease injectors for cylinders and completed double brake. That fits well even on Trumpeter frame

Hi Libor,
i love your job, it´s wonderful, i hope when I started my loco it looks only a bit like yours.
First I star to build a new Loco the Trumpeter´s Wr360 c 12, and and I hope that you can help me, ¿have you got some information about this loco?
Cheers.

WOW, great progress again on this loco!
I have not read all the text, but it looks like a complete re-build of this one.

Are the parts of the base-kit not accurate enough, or are some missing?
(brakes, valves, levers...)

I´ve seen on some images, that there are some differences, which I read on your september-update, that different main-frames were used on this type of loco.
Interesting work and comparison!

greetings...

Thank you guys for your kind words.
Jose - I would like to help, but I have got nothing yet for this one.
Frank - Plasticbattle - built one here some time ago, and if I remember well, there were some reference linked in his topic
click me!
Also there is a book for similar type of loco available from WINGS & WHEELS PUBLICATIONS
Soeren, I do just parts I need different from early loco, which the kit more and less is - and mainly parts missing, wrong or simplified in the box. Frame for my loco is a bit different, but that one from the kit also looks very strange with all the bearing housings etc moulded in one piece. However, what can be used - I go for it, to save my time. My next loco - it will be full scratch, thats for sure. Coming soon
Cheers

Hi guys, its been a while....
This is not actually a regular update for my BR86 build, but I have finished another compressor, which could have been also a part of any BR86 loco. This is the Knorr double cylinder compressor, which was used mainly on BR52 and other large locomotives, but often seen mounted on BR86, BR64 and other smaller ones as well.

I did the most common one with true to scale ribbing and design, the KL5 grease pump, Knorr lubricating injectors and pressure controller

Still a few grease pipes to be added, but generally the most of it is finished
Cheers

Another great news from you! And the result looks good!!!
If I should buy and build Trumpeter´s BR-86, I should buy replacement-sets. ;-)
As I see, until now, all shown (by you) parts which were made by "big T", needs some correction - and you have a good answer / replacement.
But also as I see, there are no replacement parts... only additional PE-parts from different companies.

Thanks for sharing!
